Tolead and support the implementation of comprehensive HSE strategies acrossdefense operations, facilities, and programs. The SME will play a critical rolein promoting a safety-first culture, ensuring regulatory compliance, mitigatingrisks, and supporting sustainable practices in high-risk and security-sensitiveenvironments.
KeyResponsibilities :
- Provide strategic and technical leadership on allHSE-related matters in defense manufacturing, testing, logistics, andfield environments.
- Develop, implement, and maintain HSE policies,procedures, and programs in alignment with international, national, andmilitary regulations (e.g., OSHA, ISO 45001, ISO 14001, DoD directives).
- Conduct risk assessments, hazard analyses, and jobsafety evaluations for defense-related processes and equipment.
- Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, andcorrective action planning for workplace accidents, environmental events,and near misses.
- Monitor and report HSE performance metrics; provideregular updates and recommendations to leadership and regulatory bodies.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal ofhazardous materials, explosives, and classified waste in compliance withenvironmental and safety laws.
- Deliver HSE training, drills, and awareness programsfor personnel, contractors, and project stakeholders.
- Interface with government agencies, military oversightbodies, and certification organizations during audits, inspections, andreviews.
- Support emergency response planning, occupationalhealth initiatives, and environmental sustainability efforts.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to minimizerisk and enhance safety culture across all levels of the organization.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety,Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.10+ years of HSE experience in the defense, aerospace,or high-hazard industrial sectors.Deep understanding of HSE regulations and standardsapplicable to defense operations, including OSHA, EPA, DoD, and NATOguidelines.Experience with risk management systems, incidentinvestigation techniques, and regulatory reporting.Strong interpersonal and communication skills; capableof influencing stakeholders at all levels.Ability to obtain and maintain a government securityclearance.Preferred :
Master’s degree in Safety Engineering, EnvironmentalManagement, or Industrial Hygiene.Professional certifications such as CSP (CertifiedSafety Professional), CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist), NEBOSH, orCHMM.
