To
lead and support the implementation of comprehensive HSE strategies across
defense operations, facilities, and programs. The SME will play a critical role
in promoting a safety-first culture, ensuring regulatory compliance, mitigating
risks, and supporting sustainable practices in high-risk and security-sensitive
environments.
Key
Responsibilities :
- Provide strategic and technical leadership on all HSE-related matters in defense manufacturing, testing, logistics, and field environments.
- Develop, implement, and maintain HSE policies, procedures, and programs in alignment with international, national, and military regulations (e.g., OSHA, ISO 45001, ISO 14001, DoD directives).
- Conduct risk assessments, hazard analyses, and job safety evaluations for defense-related processes and equipment.
- Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action planning for workplace accidents, environmental events, and near misses.
- Monitor and report HSE performance metrics; provide regular updates and recommendations to leadership and regulatory bodies.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials, explosives, and classified waste in compliance with environmental and safety laws.
- Deliver HSE training, drills, and awareness programs for personnel, contractors, and project stakeholders.
- Interface with government agencies, military oversight bodies, and certification organizations during audits, inspections, and reviews.
- Support emergency response planning, occupational health initiatives, and environmental sustainability efforts.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to minimize risk and enhance safety culture across all levels of the organization.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.10+ years of HSE experience in the defense, aerospace, or high-hazard industrial sectors.Deep understanding of HSE regulations and standards applicable to defense operations, including OSHA, EPA, DoD, and NATO guidelines.Experience with risk management systems, incident investigation techniques, and regulatory reporting.Strong interpersonal and communication skills; capable of influencing stakeholders at all levels.Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.Preferred :
Master’s degree in Safety Engineering, Environmental Management, or Industrial Hygiene.Professional certifications such as CSP (Certified Safety Professional), CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist), NEBOSH, or CHMM.
