Job Overview :
The Quality Controller (Shipwright Department) will be responsible for inspecting, monitoring, and ensuring the quality of shipwright operations, including structural repair, maintenance, and fabrication work within the shipyard. The role involves verifying that all works meet required specifications, standards, and safety regulations, ensuring the delivery of high-quality results in marine and shipbuilding projects.
Job Role & Responsibilities :
- Inspect and monitor shipwright and fabrication activities to ensure adherence to quality standards and project specifications.
- Review engineering drawings, work instructions, and technical documents to verify compliance during execution.
- Conduct dimensional checks and quality inspections of structures, blocks, and vessel components.
- Supervise repair, fitting, and alignment works to ensure proper assembly and finish.
- Identify and report any non-conformities or deviations in workmanship, materials, or processes.
- Coordinate with production, engineering, and HSE teams to address quality issues and corrective actions.
- Prepare inspection reports and maintain documentation for quality assurance records.
- Verify the use of approved materials, tools, and methods during shipwright operations.
- Support final inspection and handover procedures for completed projects.
- Ensure all work complies with company and international marine standards.
Requirements
Qualifications & Experience :
Education : Diploma / Degree in Mechanical, Marine, or Industrial Engineering (or equivalent).Experience : Minimum 4–6 years of experience in shipyard quality control or marine fabrication.Strong background in shipwright activities, repair, and maintenance inspection.Familiarity with international quality and safety standards in marine industries.Gulf or overseas shipyard experience preferred.Required Skills :
Solid knowledge of marine structures, materials, and quality inspection procedures.Ability to interpret engineering drawings and quality specifications.Excellent understanding of shipwright operations such as fabrication, fitting, and assembly.Good communication and reporting skills.Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.Proficiency in using measuring tools and inspection instruments.Familiarity with ISO and QA / QC documentation systems.Benefits
