As a Lead Athletics Coach, you will lead the program for a designated Event Group (Sprints, Jumps, Throws & Endurance), which aims to support Student Athletes during the second three years in the Academy (roughly 16-19 years of age). Ensure the designated Event Group Program successfully prepares athletes for sporting success in the Performance Program and beyond.

This role involves working alongside coaches, athletes, and other sports science staff to provide advice, training, and support to individual needs and learning modalities.

What will you do - Main responsibilities :
Lead the on-going development of the designated Event Group aimed at supporting Athletes during the second three years in the Academy (roughly 16-19 years of age).
In conjunction with the Head Coach develop the strategic direction and culture of the designated Event Group program, delivering progressions for and progression in coaching methodology and practice.
This includes creating and overseeing the annual training and competition plan, weekly training schedule and the coaching and support curriculum.
Support the Head Coach as required with the planning and daily management of the designated Event Group Program and wider Athletics program.
Work as part of an interdisciplinary team alongside other coaches, sports scientists, sports medicine staff and pastoral care professionals (team coordinators). As Lead Coach for the designated Event Group program. This will entail leading the coaches and support staff assigned to work in the Program.
Lead and work as part of an integrated team alongside sports scientists and other staff members to provide a holistic service to support Student Athlete development and optimize performance.
Support fellow coaches and support staff to create an engaging training environment for Student Athletes that results in high levels of attendance.
Encourage the use of the latest coaching methods and methodologies to assist Student Athletes in developing the attributes required to fulfil their potential.
Lead on the creation of a written record of all training. Ensure staff members keep all training and competition plans up to date and ensure sessions are staffed effectively if staff members are absent
Lead the planning and organization of competitions focused on athletes within the Development Program.
Support and ensure team members coordinate with concerned parties including parents, teachers, sport science, sports medicine, operations and team coordinators to ensure the comprehensive development of Student Athletes.
Stay abreast of the latest research, information and practice regarding Track and Field Athletics and Long Term Athlete Development.
Support the Head Coach with annual performance reviews related to staff in the Event Group Program.
Qualifications and requirements :
6-8 years of significant relevant experience of which 2-3 years should ideally be in a similar position / responsibility, preferably in a similar industry.
High level knowledge of Track and Field Athletics and Long-Term Athlete Development.
High level knowledge of Physical Preparation and sports science disciplines related to improving performance with developing athletes.
Experience leading teams.
People management and mentoring experience.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
Relevant Athletics coaching accreditation
Demonstrated ability of effective communication, consultation, and liaison with management, peers, and client groups
Excellent skills in planning and scheduling and event group management
Excellent strategic thinking skills
Effective decision-making and problem-solving skills.
Excellent collaborative working style.
Excellent time management skills.
Team building skills
Proficient in preparing reports and presenting it to peers
Proven personal and professional skills related to dealing with ASPIRE student / athletes from widely diverse age groups and backgrounds.
Demonstrated ability to work within a team as well as the ability to work independently and possess a high level of personal initiative and autonomy.
Demonstrated ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team.
