Material Engineer

We are working with an operator to source a Material Engineer . This is a long-term contract role working on a residential basis.

Position details

Title : Material Engineer

Start Date : ASAP (typically within 1 month notice)

Location : Qatar Site / Doha Onshore

Working Schedule : 5-6 days per week / 8-9 hours per day or as per project requirements

Key Job Accountabilities

• Evaluates technical offers of stock items, coordinates with equipment owner, and confirms technical suitability and compliance of purchasing specifications with original equipment specifications, codes, and standards.
• Plan and prioritize all technical evaluations for the assigned discipline and engineering group; track technical evaluations to ensure timely completion.
• Ensure that item master / catalogue is updated according to the agreed description, specifications, and materials attributes.
• Recommend and implement technical improvements or enhancements identified in the evaluation process to standardize technical specifications of similar materials, optimize stock, and identify items that can be made generic.
• Resolve procurement problems regarding material specifications, supply and delivery issues with senior discipline engineers, including technical evaluation of offers for materials supply that involve changes or substitutions.
• Coordinate with procurement to identify technical improvements, re-engineering prospects, facility enhancements, and alternatives to obsolete materials as recommended by vendors, and collaborate with end users for implementation.
• Carry out pre- and post-order clarifications and address technical issues where suppliers request waivers against purchase order specifications.
• Review and resolve purchasing issues of stock materials against Complaint Notification Reports arising due to "Not to Spec" through verification and supplier justification; determine root cause for non-conforming material delivery and implement corrective and preventive actions, with follow-up.
