Job Summary
To ensure that all guest rooms, corridors, and service areas are maintained to the standards set by the Assistant Director Rooms (Heart of House).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Cleaning chairs, sofas, and carpets in guests' bedrooms and all public areas.
- Removing chewing gum, candle wax, wine, and coffee stains.
- Ensuring standards are maintained at a required level on a daily basis following the LQA, Forbes and Brand standards in every task.
- Working closely with other associates in a supportive and flexible manner, focusing on the overall success of the hotel and the satisfaction of hotel guests.
- Contributing to the collective commitment of a unique guest experience – to create a sense of place.
- Supporting new members of the housekeeping team.
- Handling guests’ concerns and comments and finding a proper resolution to ensure guest satisfaction.
- Reporting for work ensuring appearance and presentation meets the required standard.
- Collecting key cards and the Duty Phone from the Housekeeping office at the appointed start time.
- Collecting equipment, ensuring you have the correct tools for the job – if not, letting your Floor Supervisor know – and commencing cleaning of departure rooms while keeping noise to a minimum.
- Keeping noise to a minimum on the floors – e.g., closing doors and maintaining quiet conversations.
- Returning any turned-down rooms to daytime set-up.
- Not knocking on or entering rooms with a "Do not disturb" card.
- Reporting to your Floor Supervisor any sleep-outs, extra departures, rooms on DND or rooms not requiring service.
- Cleaning all rooms following Rosewood standards.
- Keeping trolleys neat and tidy throughout the day.
- Ensuring public areas and corridors are in immaculate condition.
- Making up any extra beds and baby cots as required.
- Bringing any guest laundry found in occupied rooms to the attention of the housekeeping office immediately.
- Removing all private dining trays from the guestrooms and corridors and placing them in a designated collection area.
- Cleaning and emptying the vacuum cleaner and aiding in the tidying of the store cupboard at the end of the day.
- Restocking, cleaning, and putting away the trolley before going off shift, remaining on the floor until your Floor Housekeeper has signed your paper, and returning key cards and the Duty Phone to the Housekeeping office at the end of your shift.
- Ensuring lost and found items are turned directly into Security, following the lost property procedure.
- Ensuring gifts from guests are accompanied by a signed authorization from the guest and, before removal, a security pass has been provided.
- Keeping key cards and Duty Phones secure and not lending them to others; reporting any loss immediately to the housekeeping office.
- Reporting any matters concerning the security of guests to the Security Department immediately.
- Ensuring all equipment is well maintained and in proper working order, reporting any malfunctioning or defects to the Floor Supervisor.
- Reporting all malfunctions in assigned areas onto Know Cross.
- Keeping guest doors closed while servicing the guestroom and using the "Service" card.
- Not allowing anyone to enter the guestroom; advising guests to use their keycard and requesting assistance from guest relations if the card is faulty.
- Ensuring safety of guest property and reporting anything suspicious to your Floor Supervisor.
- Reporting suspicious looking persons or anything suspicious to your Floor Supervisor.
- Ensuring that all guest rooms and minibars are maintained in accordance with the standards required by the Assistant Director Rooms (Heart of House).
- Stocking and replacing missing items in minibars and guest rooms, inspecting and cleaning the minibars in accordance with departmental procedures and policies.
- Maintaining, tracking and completing the daily worksheet of minibar stock and posting to guest accounts via iPod.
- Ensuring products in minibar and guest rooms are not expired and removing and replacing those products as necessary.
- Ensuring rotation of all minibar products.
- Monitoring and reporting any misuse or unexplained stock discrepancies.
