Job Summary The Purchase Officer in a hospital is responsible for sourcing, procuring, and managing medical supplies, equipment, and services. Key Responsibilities
Identify hospital requirements for medical and non-medical supplies
Source and evaluate vendors, negotiate contracts, and secure competitive pricing
Process purchase requests, prepare purchase orders, and ensure timely delivery
Maintain accurate records of purchases, inventory, and supplier information
Coordinate with departments to forecast needs and avoid stock shortages
Ensure all purchased items meet quality and regulatory standards
Monitor supplier performance and resolve discrepancies in orders or invoices
Support budgeting, cost control, and audit requirements
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business administration, or related field
Experience in hospital purchasing, procurement, or supply chain management
Knowledge of medical supplies, hospital equipment, and vendor management
Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Proficiency in procurement software, ERP systems, and MS Office
Attention to detail with ability to manage multiple purchase requests
Understanding of healthcare regulations and compliance standards
