Purpose of Role The Head of E-Commerce will lead and oversee the strategic direction and operations of our e‑commerce channels and how they fuse with Retail to deliver a frictionless customer journey. This role is pivotal in driving growth, enhancing customer experience, and ensuring operational excellence across the E‑Commerce platform as well as a digital journey in physical Retail.
What You’re Doing Strategic Planning & Execution
Develop and implement the E-Commerce business strategy in alignment with the company’s corporate goals.
Translate high-level strategies into actionable roadmaps to achieve business objectives.
Lead the execution of strategic initiatives to drive growth and market expansion.
Bring innovation into E-Commerce and ensure Starlink stays ahead of the competition through cutting‑edge ideas and implementation.
Business Development and Partnerships
Identify and evaluate new business opportunities / partnerships for E-Commerce business unit.
Manage relationships with third‑party vendors and partners to enhance e‑commerce capabilities.
Build and maintain strong relationships with key partners, suppliers, and stakeholders.
Negotiate and manage contracts with vendors and partners to ensure favourable terms and conditions.
Partner with Head of Retail to ensure the E‑Commerce platforms work in synergy with physical Retail – ensuring customer movement between the two verticals is seamless.
Digital Marketing & Website Management
Oversee digital marketing campaigns, including SEO, SEM, e‑mail marketing, and social media to increase traffic and sales.
Ensure the website is user‑friendly, up‑to‑date, and optimised for conversions.
Enhance the online customer journey, ensuring a seamless and engaging shopping experience and reducing ‘clicks’.
Operational Management
Provide leadership to the E‑Commerce team who will oversee day‑to‑day operations ensuring efficiency and high‑quality service delivery.
Monitor and analyse key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure operational excellence and continuous improvement.
Utilise analytics to monitor performance, identify trends, and make data‑driven decisions.
Financial Management
Develop and manage the E‑Commerce annual operating plan, ensuring alignment with financial goals – Sales, GP, OPEX, NP – plus category mix and potential high‑margin verticals.
Conduct financial forecasting and analysis to support strategic decision‑making.
Ensure profitability and cost‑effectiveness of the E‑Commerce business unit.
Market Analysis & Insights
Conduct market research and analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and competitive landscape.
Provide insights and recommendations to the executive team to inform strategic decisions.
Stay abreast of industry developments and emerging technologies.
Team Leadership
Build, lead, mentor, and develop a high‑performing team of E‑Commerce professionals.
Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment.
Ensure continuous professional development and training for team members.
Commercial / Sales Focus
Understanding of consumer electronics market, latest trends and growth opportunities.
Ideas of new categories, services or business verticals that can lead to incremental growth.
What We’re Looking For Educational Background
A bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, or a related field.
An MBA or other advanced degree is an advantage.
Work Experience
E‑Commerce : Significant experience in developing and managing E‑Commerce platforms including website optimisation, user experience design, online merchandising, and omni‑channel best practices; proven expertise in integrating online and offline channels; leveraging data analytics to drive sales and customer engagement.
Proven track record in leading and motivating an E‑Commerce team and managing complex projects.
Experience in financial forecasting, budgeting, and managing significant projects.
