Position Summary
The Senior Contracts Director is responsible for the overall leadership, management, and strategic direction of the contracts and commercial management functions across major construction projects. The role ensures effective contracts administration, dispute resolution, claims management, and commercial strategy to support organizational objectives and risk management. This role acts as the key liaison with legal counsels, consultants, and stakeholders to safeguard contractual interests while driving project success.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Contract & Commercial Leadership
- Lead the contracts and commercial management function across multiple projects, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and industry standards.
- Develop and implement contract strategies that maximize value and mitigate risks.
- Drive commercial and contract strategies for complex, high-value construction projects including high-rise, hotels, palaces, villas, and civil infrastructures.
- Advise senior management and executive leadership on commercial risks, opportunities, and mitigation strategies.
Contracts Management
Oversee end-to-end contract management processes, including procurement, negotiation, execution, administration, and close-out.Ensure contracts comply with legal requirements, client specifications, and industry best practices.Manage variations, claims, and extensions of time (EoT) across all projects.Dispute Resolution & Legal Liaison
Serve as the focal point for dispute resolution, arbitration, and claims processes.Collaborate with internal legal teams and external consultants to resolve complex disputes efficiently.Lead arbitration and legal proceedings as required, providing expert guidance to safeguard the company’s interests.Project & Stakeholder Management
Oversee commercial and contractual interfaces across multiple stakeholders including clients, consultants, contractors, and regulatory authorities.Influence and negotiate with key stakeholders to ensure favorable outcomes for the organization.Mentor and lead contracts teams to enhance performance, knowledge, and competency.Financial & Risk Management
Monitor and manage commercial risks, project budgets, and financial exposure.Approve major claims, settlements, and contractual agreements in alignment with company policies.Provide reporting and analysis on commercial performance to executive management.Leadership & Team Development
Build and lead a high-performing contracts and commercial management team.Foster a culture of excellence, integrity, and proactive risk management.Identify skill gaps and implement professional development programs for team members.Qualifications & Memberships
Mandatory : BSc Honours in Quantity Surveying or Civil Engineering (Full-time study, not online).Optional / Preferred :Diploma in International ArbitrationCertification in Applied Project ManagementProfessional Memberships :MRICS (Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors)FCIArb (Fellow, Chartered Institute of Arbitrators)PMP (Project Management Professional, PMI)Skills & Competencies
