Supervisor (Piping)
Job Summary & Purpose
The Piping Supervisor is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising all piping activities on board vessels or at worksites to ensure safe, timely, and cost-effective project delivery. Acting as a technical and production expert, the role oversees on-ground implementation, manages teams, and ensures adherence to quality, safety, and productivity standards.
Key Accountabilities
- Work Planning & Coordination : Develop daily and weekly action plans to organize and complete piping tasks efficiently within the set timeframe and milestones.
- Equipment & Resource Management : Ensure all piping equipment, tools, and machinery are properly maintained, calibrated, and available for work crews.
- Project Preparation : Review client specifications, prepare detailed job scopes, manpower allocation plans, and conduct internal / external kickoff meetings.
- Performance Monitoring : Track progress against plans and budgets, ensuring timely job completion and providing feedback to internal and external stakeholders.
- Process Improvement : Identify and implement process enhancements to reduce assembly hours and overall build costs.
- Technical Review : Interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine dimensions, tolerances, and required operations for fabrication and assembly.
- Safety & Compliance : Foster a culture of safety and accountability by enforcing company HSE standards, preparing risk assessments and work permits, and serving as a role model for safe behavior.
- Team Leadership : Supervise and motivate piping crews, ensuring effective teamwork, skill utilization, and adherence to work instructions and safety protocols.
- Problem Solving : Resolve and analyze manufacturing discrepancies, collaborating closely with the Quality Assurance team.
- Manpower Management : Assess workforce requirements and coordinate with the Section Manager for any additional manpower or man-hour allocations needed.
- Health & Wellbeing : Promote employee wellbeing by adhering to all health and safety protocols, participating in wellness initiatives, and reporting any concerns promptly.
- Additional Duties : Perform other related tasks or assignments as directed by management.
Qualifications
Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification.Certification or proven competence as a Group Leader / Senior Pipe Fitter / Senior Pipe Welder in shipyard, offshore, or onshore projects.Experience
Minimum 6 years of relevant experience, including at least 3 years in a supervisory or team-leading role in shipyard, new build, or offshore projects.Skills
