Overview
A titanium welder understands titanium's properties and uses the right welding equipment and processes to produce finished components. They may work in enclosed spaces or operate hand-powered machines and should be adept at titanium welding.
Responsibilities
- Weld titanium parts using appropriate processes (e.g., GTAW / TIG) and materials to ensure strong, leak-free joints.
- Inspect welds for visible defects, determine suitable filler materials, and recommend process adjustments as needed.
- Operate a range of tools and equipment, including plasma cutters, drills, grinders, and related machinery.
- Coordinate nondestructive testing and oversee the welding contractor’s work to meet project specifications.
- Apply knowledge of metallurgical properties of materials (e.g., magnesium, carbon steel, titanium, zirconium) to select suitable welding approaches.
- Stay current with welding technology and practices; adopt new methods and equipment as appropriate.
Qualifications
Must meet 6G GTAW (TIG) qualification requirements for titanium piping.Minimum experience : 8–10 years welding in fabrication, preferably in the oil and gas sector.Educational background : High school graduate or one year of technical education in Welding Technology.Experience with GTAW on various materials (e.g., stainless steel, duplex stainless steel, Inconel, and carbon steel) as applicable.Location
