Overview

Job Description Purpose Responsible for safely maximizing the production potential of each well drilled through efficient planning, high-quality operational support, and the development of a highly skilled and motivated team. Key Accountabilities

Coordinate geological operations planning and safe execution of up to 35–40 new wells and re-drills annually across multiple rigs. Co-own the Statement of Requirements (SOR) process with the Drilling and Wells team. Oversee team coordination to ensure smooth integration of operational follow-up and well planning activities. Ensure high quality of all geological operations deliverables. Maintain long-term planning visibility for upcoming wells and reservoir data needs. Support Basis of Design (BOD) reviews to ensure optimal well design. Act as interim New Well Delivery Manager during periods of absence. Optimize staffing of wellsite geologists (WSG) and operations geologists based on rig activity. Maintain regular contact with service providers (mudlogging, coring, LWD, wireline logging). Track pre- and post-well data for continuous performance evaluation. Manage budgets related to data acquisition activities. Key Responsibilities

1. HSE Compliance

  • Demonstrate personal commitment to HSE policies and standards.

Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations.

Participate actively in safety initiatives and maintain valid certifications (e.g., BOSIET). Promote safety practices within operations geology functions. 2. Well Planning

  • Oversee detailed well planning from BOD through execution and handover. Ensure timely preparation of SOR and data acquisition programs. Support Growth and Reservoir Management teams with operational input. Collaborate on drilling sequence reviews with key stakeholders. Integrate pressure and fracture prediction data for infill well development. Participate in post-well reviews with static and operational input. 3. Operations Oversight & Reporting
  • Supervise geological operations, ensuring efficiency, technical quality, and cost-effectiveness. Oversee contract release orders, technical validation of invoices, and service quality monitoring. Lead regular communication and quality review meetings with service providers. Define and monitor KPIs in collaboration with the New Well Delivery Manager. 4. Quality Control & Final Reporting
  • Ensure timely and high-quality final geological reports. Document and update operational learnings (REX). Conduct thorough post-well reviews and implement improvements. 5. Technology and Best Practices
  • Justify and integrate technical analysis and formation evaluation recommendations. Consolidate multidisciplinary inputs into official documentation (WSOR, Geological Programs, Final Reports). Mentor and coach junior operations geologists and wellsite geologists. Conduct technical audits at the wellsite and participate in critical HSE briefings. Represent the company in external engagements as required. Requirements
  • Qualifications & Experience

    Minimum 15 years of experience in a subsurface / geosciences organization Bachelor's degree (required) in Geoscience, Reservoir Engineering, Petroleum Engineering or related field; Master's degree preferred Strong understanding of subsurface operations, well planning, and data acquisition Proven leadership and project management skills Cross-functional knowledge of geosciences and drilling disciplines Ability to influence senior stakeholders and communicate effectively at high levels
