NETWORK TECHNICIAN

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, and related network infrastructure.
  
• Install and support switches, routers, firewalls, access points, servers, and network-connected devices.
  
• Perform structured cabling, patch-panel termination, rack installation, labelling, and cable testing.
  
• Monitor network availability and performance and resolve connectivity issues.
  
• Configure IP addresses, VLANs, VPNs, routing, switching, DNS, and DHCP services.
  
• Diagnose hardware, software, cabling, and network-performance problems.
  
• Perform preventive maintenance and replace defective network components.
  
• Maintain network diagrams, device inventories, configuration records, and service reports.
  
• Support users with network access, internet connectivity, IP phones, printers, and related IT equipment.
  
• Follow cybersecurity controls, change-management procedures, and site safety requirements
  

Requirements

Requirements

• Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Electronics, or a related field.
  
• Minimum 5–10 years of relevant experience in network installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  
• Strong knowledge of LAN, WAN, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLAN, VPN, routing, switching, and wireless networks.
  
• Hands-on experience with routers, switches, firewalls, access points, and structured cabling systems.
  
• Experience in fibre-optic and copper-cable installation, termination, and testing is preferred.
  
• Familiarity with Cisco or equivalent networking equipment.
  
• CCNA, CCNP, CompTIA Network+, or equivalent certification is preferred.
  
• Ability to use network diagnostic, monitoring, and cable-testing tools.
  
• Strong troubleshooting, documentation, communication, and teamwork skills.

Requirements
Physical Fitness: Ability to lift, carry, and move heavy materials; work in confined or elevated spaces. Experience: Previous experience in insulation work is an advantage but not always required for helper roles. Knowledge: Basic understanding of insulation materials, tools, and techniques (training is usually provided for helpers). Team Player: Willingness to work under supervision and assist skilled workers. Work Conditions: Comfortable working in cold environments, outdoors, or at heights. Communication: Ability to follow verbal and written instructions; basic understanding of workplace safety signs and labels.
