Telecom Commissioning Engineer

Position Overview

Responsible for telecom system commissioning activities for FEED/EPIC projects across onshore and offshore Oil & Gas facilities from installation and testing through final handover. The role will coordinate with the Lead Commissioning Engineer Project Manager client contractors and other project disciplines.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute installation testing commissioning and handover of telecommunications systems.
• Conduct FAT and SAT activities and ensure systems meet approved project requirements.
• Commission and troubleshoot telecom systems including:
  • CCTV
  • UHF/VHF Radio
  • PA/GA
  • PABX & IP Telephony
  • Telemetry & AIS
  • Access Control Systems (ACS)
  • LAN/WAN & Fiber Optic Structured Cabling
  • VHF/UHF/TETRA Radio
  • Microwave Systems
  • Network Management Systems
  • Vessel Safety Systems
• Support telecom service jobs and modifications in accordance with contractual requirements.
• Review telecom drawings specifications procedures and other engineering deliverables.
• Coordinate with vendors subcontractors construction teams engineering teams and client representatives to resolve technical issues.
• Monitor commissioning progress and ensure activities are completed according to the approved project schedule.
• Maintain commissioning records test reports punch lists and handover documentation.
• Support final system handover and project close-out.
• Plan site activities and coordinate required manpower tools and equipment.
• Ensure compliance with HSE procedures PTW risk assessments HAZID and SIMOPS requirements.
• Provide technical updates and reports to the Lead Commissioning Engineer / Project Manager.
• Work on onshore and offshore facilities and travel within Qatar or the Middle East when required.

Requirements

• Bachelors Degree in Electronics & Communications Engineering.
• 1215 years of experience in telecom system commissioning.
• Minimum 810 years experience in Oil & Gas onshore/offshore facilities.
• Proven experience in FEED and EPIC projects covering Greenfield and Brownfield environments.
• Strong hands-on experience in telecom FAT SAT installation testing commissioning and troubleshooting.
• Ability to review and approve relevant drawings technical documents procedures and contractor deliverables.
• Good knowledge of applicable telecom industry standards and HSE requirements.
• Experience with risk management HAZID and SIMOPS.
• BOSIET/FOET CA-EBS certification required; Basic H2S preferred.
• Strong planning coordination resource management and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and technical writing abilities.
• Ability to work independently and effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Proficiency in MS Word Excel MS Project Visio AutoCAD and Navisworks.
