Senior Pump Technician – Oil & Gas

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Pump Technician with strong hands-on expertise in the maintenance, repair, overhaul, installation, and troubleshooting of industrial pumps and rotating equipment within the Oil & Gas / Petrochemical industry.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the reliable and safe operation of pumps and associated rotating equipment while supporting maintenance activities and providing technical guidance to junior technicians.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform preventive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance of various types of industrial pumps.
• Work on centrifugal, reciprocating, screw, gear, diaphragm, and other process pumps.
• Carry out complete pump dismantling, inspection, repair, overhaul, and reassembly.
• Diagnose and rectify pump-related issues such as vibration, leakage, abnormal noise, overheating, and loss of performance.
• Perform mechanical seal, bearing, shaft, coupling, impeller, and wear-ring replacement.
• Conduct precision pump and motor shaft alignment using appropriate alignment tools.
• Inspect pump components and identify wear, damage, and potential failure points.
• Read and interpret mechanical drawings, equipment manuals, P&IDs, and technical specifications.
• Assist with pump installation, commissioning, testing, and start-up activities.
• Carry out inspection and maintenance of associated rotating equipment.
• Coordinate with Mechanical Supervisors, Engineers, and Operations teams during maintenance activities.
• Provide technical guidance and support to junior Pump Technicians.
• Prepare maintenance reports, inspection records, and job completion documentation.
• Ensure tools, spare parts, and equipment required for maintenance activities are available.
• Follow approved Permit to Work (PTW), Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and isolation procedures.
• Strictly comply with all HSE and Oil & Gas safety standards.

Requirements

• Diploma / ITI / Technical qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• 7+ years of relevant experience, preferably within Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Refinery, LNG, or Process Plant environments.
• Strong hands-on experience in industrial pump maintenance and overhauling.
• Excellent knowledge of rotating equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Proven experience with pump alignment, mechanical seals, bearings, couplings, shafts, and impellers.
• Experience working in operating Oil & Gas / Petrochemical facilities is highly preferred.
• Ability to lead or guide a team of technicians during maintenance activities.
• Good understanding of mechanical safety procedures and maintenance practices.
• Ability to work under pressure and respond effectively to breakdown and emergency maintenance requirements.
