Job Title: Electrical Draftsman (Building Design)

Location: Qatar

Department: Engineering / MEP Design

1. Purpose of the Role

To prepare accurate and detailed electrical drawings for building projects including power distribution lighting systems and ELV layouts ensuring compliance with project specifications local authority regulations and international standards.

2. Key Responsibilities

A. Electrical Drafting & Design Support

• Prepare detailed electrical shop drawings and design drawings (lighting power small power single line diagrams ELV systems).
  
• Develop cable routing containment layouts (tray trunking conduits).
  
• Draft load schedules panel board layouts and riser diagrams.
  
• Support engineers in converting design concepts into coordinated drawings.
  

B. Coordination

• Coordinate with architectural structural and MEP disciplines to ensure clash-free drawings.
  
• Work closely with design engineers and BIM teams to align models and drawings.
  
• Incorporate comments from consultants and clients into revised drawings.
  

C. Compliance & Standards

• Ensure all drawings comply with Qatar Construction Specifications (QCS) and relevant authority requirements (e.g. Kahramaa Civil Defence where applicable).
  
• Maintain adherence to international standards such as IEC BS and NFPA (for related systems).
  

D. Documentation & Revisions

• Maintain proper version control of drawings and documentation.
  
• Prepare as-built drawings upon project completion.
  
• Manage drawing registers and ensure timely submission of deliverables.
  

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

• Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering or relevant field.
  
• Minimum 10 years of experience in electrical drafting.
  
• Mandatory Qatar experience preferably in design consultancy.
  
• Strong experience in building projects (commercial residential mixed-use).
  

Skills & Competencies

• Proficiency in AutoCAD (mandatory) and Revit/BIM is highly preferred.
  
• Strong understanding of electrical systems design (lighting power ELV).
  
• Familiarity with local authority regulations in Qatar.
  
• Good coordination and communication skills.
  
• High attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
