Chiller Mechanic
Position Summary :
This position is responsible for the Operations, Maintenance, and Repair (OM&R) of HVAC / R systems and the Installation Control System (ICS) across the base, ensuring optimal performance and regulatory compliance. The role involves routine inspections, operational testing, system balancing, troubleshooting, and repairs of a wide range of equipment including chillers, air handlers, CRAC units, and direct digital controls (DDC). The technician must uphold strict quality, safety, and environmental standards in accordance with Company, OSHA, and USAF requirements. Chiller mechanic will need to be able to work on various chiller manufactured equipment ranging from 17-300 tons.
This is a 100% overseas assignment with the expectation to operate in various environments, including potentially austere or wartime conditions, and may involve shift work, overtime, and exposure to challenging elements.

Responsibilities
- Responsible for operations, maintenance, and repair of commercial and industrial HVAC systems, servicing a variety of critical equipment, including but not limited to : AquaForce and York air-cooled chillers (80–300 tons), VRF split units (17–30 tons), Liebert CRAC units (chilled water and refrigerant-based), Petra chillers and DX units (75–100 tons), Copeland refrigeration units, variable frequency drives (VFDs), and chilled water supply pumps.
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (P.M.) in strict accordance with manufacturer specifications, industry standards, and all applicable codes and regulations to ensure optimal system performance and compliance.
- Manage and operate a chemical water treatment program for all closed-loop HVAC systems, including chilled water systems, to maintain water quality and equipment longevity.
- Implement and maintain a comprehensive Refrigerant Recovery Program that ensures the proper handling, containment, recycling, and disposal of refrigerants in full compliance with environmental regulations and industry best practices.
- Execute maintenance actions in alignment with applicable technical orders and sound commercial practices. Tasks include sourcing and requesting parts, receiving and inspecting materials, installing components, and performing in-depth troubleshooting, testing, and repairs—especially for chiller systems.
- Prepare and submit detailed written reports upon completion of all inspections, maintenance procedures, repairs, tests, and system certifications, ensuring accurate documentation and traceability.
- Adhere to and promote a robust quality and safety management program that meets or exceeds the standards of Vectrus, OSHA, and United States Air Force (USAF) operational requirements.
- Participate in and comply with a dynamic and well-documented training program designed to ensure up-to-date technical knowledge and safe work practices.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and professional work environment by ensuring all facilities are sanitary, organized, and free from debris, dust, and unnecessary materials.
- Ensure the responsible use, maintenance, and safeguarding of all government- and contractor-furnished property, including tools, equipment, and facilities.
- Accurately complete timesheets and strictly follow all company time reporting procedures to ensure proper project accounting and labor tracking.
- Perform additional duties as assigned, contributing to overall mission success and operational continuity.
Qualifications
A minimum of five years of experience in the operations, maintenance, and repair of HVAC equipment. Primary equipment responsibilities include AquaForce carrier chillers (80-300 tons), York chillers (80-300 tons), VRF split units (17-30 tons), Liebert CRAC units (chilled water / refrigerant-based), Petra chillers / DX units (75-100 tons), Copeland refrigeration units, VFDs, and chilled water supply pumps.Must be a U.S. citizen with a current, valid U.S. passport and must maintain a valid U.S. SECRET security clearance prior to deployment.Must accept that the position is full-time and 100% overseas.High School Diploma required; provide documentation of HVAC / R in-residence training.EPA 608 Universal Certification (Core, Type I, II, III) is required.Excellent understanding of safety directives and policies regarding operation of equipment.Minimum 5 years of experience in industrial chilled water systems and in Computer Room Air Conditioning Systems (CRAC); ability to communicate clearly during instruction.Must have a valid U.S. Driver’s License and be able to drive a vehicle with a manual transmission.Must be able to communicate in English and pass a flight line access test and obtain a flight line access badge.Must be able to pass employment and deployment qualification requirements including psychological, medical, dental, drug testing, background checks, etc.Candidates must complete online and hands-on CBRN defense training, including fit testing of DoD-provided protective gear.Other Requirements
Work will be primarily indoors but may be outdoors to support various company needs.Exposure to heat, cold, dust, noise, and chemicals is likely to occur.Overtime and shift work may be required depending on contractual needs.Must be prepared to function in a wartime environment to support U.S. interests.Preferred Skills
