Working closely with the Head of Commissioning and Senior Commissioning Management team of the MEA and APAC region, this role involves being the Senior Electrical Commissioning Engineer (CxA / M) for a data centre project in GCC / APAC / Europe.
Ensuring successful delivery of Sudlows critical facilities professional services around project management, site QA and testing and commissioning.
With a sound knowledge of data centre MEP infrastructure, the candidate will lead the onsite commissioning of a large global Data Centre provider from L1 to L5. Ensuring client standards and global best practice for Data Centres are met. A key aspect to the role is pro‑active client and contractor engagement.
Key Accountabilities
- Review incoming contract documentation and the production / development of a planned methodology and a clear strategy (programme / commissioning plan) to commission and test the awarded project.
- To conduct “commission‑ability reviews” of the system being installed and to advise the Specialist Services Manager, Design Manager(s) and Project Manager(s) on any foreseeable issues with scope and design strategy allowing incorporation to the final design.
- When required to assist with the preparation of inquiries / designs with the bid time, offering guidance on required commissioning requirements.
- Attendance and witnessing on behalf of the company at Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), ensuring FAT tests are conducted and validated in compliance with the ERs and the requirements of the site and acting as approval authority of such testing alongside the Design Manager.
- Organisation of the commissioning and testing to suit the project program.
- Management of the commissioning being undertaken upon the site, and day to day organisation, liaison with the respective supply and sub‑contract chain.
- Carry out Electrical Commissioning on HV / LV systems through Levels 1-5.
- Understand the operation of LV switchgear and Generators.
- Be able to review and understand SLD’s.
- Create Issue Resolution Logs, and apply appropriate level of severity P1-P3.
- Be able to witness Vendor pre‑commissioning testing assuring all criteria is met.
- To review, develop, create and conduct the necessary commissioning documentation, including Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) and Integrated System Testing (IST) scripts in line with the requirements of the project to deliver a fully integrated and operational project to the end‑user.
- Review and approve where necessary create method statements and risk assessments in conjunction with the project’s varying needs and requirements to fully commission and test the installation.
- Will have a working knowledge of BSRIA, UTI, ASHRAE and CIBSE methods and requirements.
- Presentation and explanation skills to communicate methodology and strategy to Senior Management and Directors, including clients and sub‑contractors.
- Assist with or lead Lessons Learnt and provide continuous improvement to the database.
- Liaise with Project Managers, Technical Account Managers and Technical Designers to ensure project delivery in line with client requirements.
- Ensuring all roles and responsibilities are carried out in accordance with business procedures.
- Follow all company standards with regards to commissioning practices & procedures etc.
- As required represent the Company in meetings.
- Attend internal project meetings.
- Preparation of reports for customers directly.
- Keeping in regular contact with Clients.
- Following up with the information required from site contractors.
- Study MEP documents and understand client requirements to be able to deliver and manage the project.
- Evaluate client enquiries, specifications and drawings.
- Formulate technical response with assistance and guidance from other departments as required.
- Prepare and participate in the review of and submit technical responses to the highest standards of accuracy, presentation, and punctuality in accordance with company standards and client requirements.
- Prepare and participate in the review of and in the submission of technical clarifications and revised shop drawings as required through the project.
- Maintain a full and accurate record during the project.
- Attend client, supplier and third‑party meetings on and offsite as necessary.
- Understanding / knowledge of Electrical equipment and technical risk.
- Report and communicate activities effectively and appropriately.
- Conduct site surveys to put together the reports.
- To liaise with all sub‑contractors and ensure that all drawings are issued with all required information.
- To check and approve material submittals with respect to Technical Design.
- Following on‑site project management / testing, prepare reports, present findings and provide a road map for change.
- Work closely with other areas of the business and key staff to overcome complex client requirements.
Candidate Experience and Qualifications
Electrical Engineer degree or similar.8+ years of data centre infrastructure (Cooling) Experience.Excellent work ethic and proactive individual.Capable of working under own initiative and as part of a team.Qualified (BEng or equivalent Electrical qualification or similar).Good communicator, both in writing, on the telephone and face to face with customers.Competent in MS Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel.Able to prioritise tasks and manage time, to meet tight project deadlines.Good technical and proposals and submittals management.Good technical review ability.Ensure smooth management of the projects and commissioning.Ability to carry out site surveys and understand detailed schematic designs.Working knowledge of Uptime Tiers & TIA 942‑B – ATD not essential.Willingness to travel in the region.#J-18808-Ljbffr
