Job Purpose / Objective
The Senior HVAC Engineer is responsible for leading, developing, and implementing HVAC engineering standards, specifications, and procedures across assigned projects. The role ensures all HVAC systems are designed, installed, and maintained in full compliance with company HSE and Quality policies, international standards, and project requirements.
Accountabilities
Ensure the implementation of company HSE policies and objectives within assigned tasks and projects.
Ensure adherence to company Quality policies and procedures across all project activities.
Provide leadership to achieve HSE, Quality, and commercial targets — ensuring no harm to people, the environment, or assets, while meeting project cost and schedule objectives.
Develop, review, and maintain standards, specifications, and procedures related to the HVAC discipline.
Maintain company standards in alignment with international codes such as ISA, API, and IEC.
Ensure cost optimization and on-time execution of assigned projects.
Safeguard company and third-party assets and the environment during all project phases.
Respond effectively to technical queries in compliance with standards, specifications, and safety procedures.
Ensure robust design studies and reviews of contractor-produced engineering deliverables.
Act as the Technical Authority for the HVAC discipline and serve as the deputy Technical Referential Person (TRP) within the Engineering & Construction Division.
Key Activities
Promote and ensure the application of HSE and safety engineering rules and specifications.
Monitor contractor compliance with safety requirements and take corrective actions when necessary.
Foster a strong safety culture among personnel and contractors, including active anomaly reporting.
Prepare and review HVAC engineering documents, including but not limited to :
P&IDs and identification of HVAC sub-systems.
SLDs, interconnection diagrams, and control schematics.
HVAC flow diagrams and cooling capacity calculations.
Room internal over-pressure design concepts.
System configurations (ACCU, SWCCU, water chillers, etc.).
PLC-based control concepts and ESD / F&G system interfaces.
Design functionality of HVAC sub-systems such as AHU, air condenser, evaporator, compressor, and fire dampers.
Demonstrate basic knowledge of instrumentation, electrical components, and intrinsic safety systems in HVAC.
Manage the E&I scope of HVAC projects with minimal external support.
Apply knowledge of international HVAC standards and piping / material selection, particularly for seawater systems.
Support retrofit and brownfield projects by ensuring constructability and minimal system downtime.
Conduct and coordinate technical studies to develop optimized and robust engineering solutions.
Prepare scopes of work, cost estimates, budgets, and technical documentation for HVAC-related tenders (CFTs).
Supervise offshore site surveys to ensure contractor compliance with technical requirements.
Lead technical reviews of bidder proposals and prepare technical recommendations.
Review vendor deliverables, interpret engineering drawings, and provide recommendations for improvement.
Follow up on HVAC equipment purchase orders to ensure design conformity, timely approval, and participation in FATs.
Plan and conduct Kick-Off Meetings (KOMs), Job Risk Assessments (JRAs), and work permit meetings related to brownfield activities.
Requirements
Qualifications & Experience Required
Education : Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
Experience : Minimum 15 years of experience in HVAC systems for offshore oil and gas upstream facilities — preferably within design offices, construction, or operating companies.
Proven experience in brownfield projects and HVAC retrofit systems.
Strong leadership, team spirit, and interpersonal skills.
Excellent adaptability in a continuously improving environment.
Capable of maintaining discipline and resolving conflicts effectively.
Language : Fluent in English (verbal and written)
