Job Purpose
The Chief Strategy Officer leads the formulation and execution of the organization’s corporate strategy to ensure long-term growth, institutional coherence, and alignment with Qatari and sectoral objectives. The CSO acts as the principal advisor to the CEO and Board on strategic direction, organizational positioning, and cross-functional alignment. The role ensures that the organization’s ambitions are translated into measurable outcomes, while maintaining agility in response to market and policy shifts.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Lead the development, review, and refinement of the corporate strategy in alignment with the organization’s mandate and leadership vision.
- Translate strategic ambitions into clear initiatives, milestones, and KPIs that cascade across departments and business units.
- Oversee annual and multi-year strategic planning cycles, ensuring integration between strategic, operational, and financial plans.
- Provide scenario modeling and long-range forecasting to anticipate emerging risks, opportunities, and external policy changes.
- Present strategic recommendations and insights to the CEO, Executive Management, and Board.
- Establish and oversee a performance management framework that links strategy, planning, budgeting, and execution.
- Review departmental performance against strategic objectives and provide structured feedback and corrective guidance.
- Collaborate with the Chief Transformation Officer to ensure strategic programs are delivered on schedule and within scope.
- Ensure alignment of cross-functional initiatives to prevent duplication and enhance resource efficiency.
- Drive accountability through robust reporting, measurable KPIs, and clear ownership of strategic outcomes.
- Direct strategic research, benchmarking, and trend analysis to inform corporate priorities and policy decisions.
- Evaluate the organization’s positioning in local, regional, and international contexts, identifying areas of competitive advantage.
- Oversee the preparation of whitepapers, strategy notes, and policy briefs that guide leadership and government engagement.
- Identify and evaluate potential partnerships, investment opportunities, and innovation pathways.
- Maintain situational awareness of emerging technologies, economic trends, and regulatory developments.
- Represent the organization in strategic dialogues with government bodies, investors, regulators, and development partners.
- Build alliances with key stakeholders to advance Qatari development priorities and institutional objectives.
- Ensure strategic alignment with external entities through MOUs, cooperation frameworks, and shared initiatives.
- Support the CEO in external representation, ensuring consistency in institutional messaging and positioning.
- Oversee governance mechanisms that ensure strategic decisions are transparent, data-driven, and results-oriented.
- Prepare and present high-quality reports, dashboards, and presentations to the CEO and Board.
- Foster a performance-driven culture anchored in accountability, collaboration, and innovation.
- Communicate strategic priorities internally, ensuring employees understand the organization’s direction and their role within it.
Job Qualifications & Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or Management; Master’s degree (MBA or equivalent).Minimum of 20 years of progressive experience in strategy development, management consulting, or corporate planning, including at least 10 years in a senior leadership role.Strong understanding of economic policy, investment ecosystems, and institutional governance frameworks. Prior experience in Tier-1 or Tier-2 consulting firms is strongly preferred.#J-18808-Ljbffr
