Job Description
The Senior Planning Engineer is responsible for developing, managing, and monitoring the overall project schedule for large-scale infrastructure and technology integration projects under the Smart City program. The role requires close coordination with multidisciplinary teams (civil, MEP, ICT, OT, and system integrators) to ensure that project timelines, milestones, and deliverables are achieved. While previous Smart City experience is an advantage, candidates with strong planning and scheduling expertise in large infrastructure or MEP projects are encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities :
- Develop and maintain the Master Project Schedule (resource and cost loaded) using Primavera P6, covering all project phases from design to handover.
- Integrate and align schedules from various subcontractors and vendors to ensure logical sequencing and visibility of dependencies.
- Identify and monitor critical paths, risks, and milestones, and proactively recommend mitigation measures.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, sub-contractors and track owners to ensure accurate progress updates and forecasts.
- Prepare and present weekly and monthly progress reports, including delay analysis and progress variance summaries.
- Update and maintain the approved project baseline to reflect actual progress and incorporate verified weekly updates received from subcontractors and track owners.
- Communicate any delay events to the relevant stakeholders in a timely manner and ensure such events are properly documented and recorded through official channels.
- Support the project management and contracts team in developing delay analyses and EOT submissions.
- Participate in weekly progress meetings, planning meetings, design reviews, and coordination workshops with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure all schedule updates, baselines, and revisions are properly documented and controlled.
- Adopt a proactive approach in identifying potential schedule risks, constraints, or resource bottlenecks early and propose corrective actions to prevent delays
Requirements
Academic Qualifications and Certifications :
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Project Management, or a related field.Certification or advanced proficiency in Primavera P6 is mandatory.PMP / PSP or equivalent certification is desirable.Minimum 10 years of experience in project planning and scheduling, preferably including exposure to IT, ICT, or technology infrastructure projects.Planning and scheduling for infrastructure, utilities, or MEP projects.Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.Working knowledge of MS Project, AutoCAD, and MS Office SuiteRequired Experience :
Proven experience in planning and controlling large multi-disciplinary projects using Primavera P6.Ability to prepare and maintain integrated schedules covering design, procurement, construction, testing, and commissioning.Strong understanding of Earned Value Management (EVM) and progress measurement methodologies.Familiarity with interface management between civil, Electrical, ELV, ICT passive and active systems.Experience in revisions of project baselines in response to approved change requests, scope modifications, or other circumstances impacting the project schedule.Capable of preparing progress reports, S-curves, dashboards, and look-ahead programs.Hands-on experience in delay analysis, recovery plans, and Extension of Time (EOT) claim support.Exposure to smart infrastructure, digital systems, or building automation projects is a plus, but not mandatory.Experience coordinating with multiple stakeholders, subcontractors, and clients for project progress review and reporting.Competencies and Skills :
Excellent proficiency in Primavera P6, MS Project, and Excel-based reporting tools.Strong analytical and forecasting skills.Solid understanding of construction and systems integration workflows (civil, MEP, ICT / ELV).Good interpersonal and communication skills for interaction with multidisciplinary teams.Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.Other Requirements :
Familiarity with Smart City, digital infrastructure, or technology integration projects is advantageous but not essential.Readiness to adapt and learn specific Smart City project workflows, data-driven reporting systems, and coordination processes.Commitment to continuous improvement and alignment with client and PMCM reporting standards.
