Job Summary and Purpose
The Production Engineer provides technical and technological problem-solving abilities in production engineering processes and planning. They lead work teams and oversee the production process, ensuring work is executed to high quality and auditable standards consistent with contract scope, statutory and code requirements, IMS procedures, design parameters, site survey input, Welding Procedure Specification (WPS), stress inputs, and vendor data. This role involves performing repair, installation, and modification activities, along with managing subordinates.
Accountabilities
Key Accountabilities :
- Ensure multi-skilled capabilities for all types of welding to execute work as planned.
- Train and qualify welders through On Job Training (OJT) to maintain high standards and business continuity.
- Manage welding equipment and consumables.
- Distribute welding equipment for vessels or projects as per requirements.
- Apply engineering practices to resolve management challenges related to production, optimizing effectiveness, efficiency, and cost.
- Ensure integrity of welding and cutting activities.
- Scale and integrate physical, human, and financial resources to meet high efficiency and continuous improvement goals; monitor daily manpower and manhour consumption, reporting discrepancies to the manager.
- Plan and allocate manpower according to vessel work scope; monitor daily manhour consumption and report to the section manager.
- Coordinate manpower movement, validate Ras Laffan Industrial City ID passes, and monitor daily food requests.
- Raise subcontractor requests if additional manpower is needed; assist in assigning piping engineers based on project specs.
- Study blueprints, drawings, manuals, and specifications to determine dimensions, tolerances, and operational sequences.
- Review work instructions and risk assessments, ensuring all piping activities are covered; follow up on vessel documentation post-completion.
- Promote a culture of safety and productivity, embodying N-KOM's values.
- Prepare work permits and risk assessments to identify and mitigate workplace risks.
- Update risk assessments and environmental aspects as per latest safety practices, obtaining approval from the piping manager.
- Use mathematics and statistics to model production systems for decision-making.
- Design, implement, and refine products, services, processes, and systems considering constraints and local nuances.
- Apply knowledge to improve product and service functionality; drive process improvements to reduce assembly hours and costs.
- Implement quality techniques throughout production, adhering to organizational standards for control and auditing.
- Stay updated with technological advancements to benefit the enterprise and society.
- Manage and optimize information and production flow.

Purpose : To communicate client specifications and requirements, and provide progress reports.
Qualifications, Experience and Job Skills
Qualifications :
A degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a Certificate of Competency (Marine Engineer Officer) Class 1 (Motorship).Experience :
At least 3 years of relevant work experience.Job-specific competencies include :
