The Senior Procurement Engineer is responsible for the end-to-end procurement of technical goods and services necessary for project execution and operations. This role involves evaluating new and existing suppliers, negotiating purchase agreements, and ensuring timely delivery of high-quality materials and equipment. The incumbent plays a vital role in aligning procurement strategies with organizational goals, project timelines, and budgetary requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement effective procurement strategies that align with project goals, cost targets, and quality standards.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and key stakeholders to define and fulfil procurement needs based on technical specifications.
- Conduct supplier sourcing, market research, and vendor assessments to identify qualified and reliable suppliers.
- Negotiate contracts, pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules to secure optimal procurement outcomes.
- Review and interpret technical drawings and specifications to ensure purchased items meet project requirements and engineering standards.
- Manage the complete procurement cycle from requisition to delivery, including issuing purchase orders, tracking shipments, and resolving logistical challenges.
- Monitor supplier performance through regular evaluations and audits, ensuring adherence to contract terms and company expectations.
- Drive cost savings and process improvements through continuous evaluation of procurement practices and vendor relationships.
- Mentor and support junior procurement staff, providing guidance on procurement procedures, negotiations, and supplier management.
- Ensure accurate documentation and record-keeping in compliance with internal policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.
- Support the company’s HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) initiatives, contributing to a safe and compliant working environment in line with Integrated Management System (IMS) policies.
Required Skills & Competencies
Strong knowledge of procurement and sourcing strategies, contract negotiation, and supplier relationship management.Technical understanding of engineering principles and ability to evaluate technical specifications.Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on cost optimization and value engineering.Effective negotiation and communication skills to liaise with internal teams and external vendors.Proficient in using ERP systems (preferably SAP ) for procurement and supply chain operations.High attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure.Professional Experience
Minimum 8 years of total work experience.At least 5 years of relevant experience in procurement, ideally in technical or engineering projects.Experience in the GCC region (minimum 2 years) is an advantage.Education & Certifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related discipline).Professional certification in Supply Chain Management , Logistics , or other relevant technical qualifications is preferred (e.g., CIPS, CSCP, PMP-SCM).#J-18808-Ljbffr
