Quality Control Inspector – Doha, Qatar
We are seeking a QC Inspector for a national oil and gas operator in Doha, Qatar.
Overview
Candidates must have a minimum of 10 years experience in a similar position; experience in GCC is desirable. Fluency in English is a must.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement the client’s management system elements applicable to the function.
- Ensure personal and project safety; participate proactively in all safety matters affecting construction.
- Prevent pollution to the environment.
- Coordinate inspection and test requirements on behalf of the client.
- Undertake familiarization with project and discipline‑specific inspection documentation to ensure an understanding of the contract requirements.
- Be familiar with international codes, standards and regularities (e.g. QCS, ACI, AISC).
- Implement quality inspection procedures on construction activities, suppliers and subcontractors to ensure compliance with project specification.
- Ensure inspection, test, surveillance and survey documentation meet the requirements of the Project Quality Plan, ITPs and project requirements.
- Complete relevant forms and prepare reports on inspections and tests undertaken; maintain inspection records.
- Communicate effectively with contractors, third parties and end users at the level required.
- Ensure all measuring and testing equipment is calibrated; records are available.
- Assist construction personnel in developing required quality documentation (method statements, work procedures, inspection and test plans and records).
- Assist personnel to identify problems and potential or actual nonconformances; propose corrective and preventive actions.
- Liaise with other field supervisors and contractors to monitor planned and completed construction works; ensure civil tests are planned and performed.
- Assist Quality Engineer to inspect and review quality documents for concrete casting, steel fixing, anchor bolts, grouting, steel structure erection, block works, soil & excavation and material receiving activities.
- Monitor contractors for concrete casting, steel fixing, anchor bolts, grouting, steel structure erection, block works, soil & excavation and material receiving quality procedures implementation and QA / QC activities.
- Ensure all civil activities are performed according to project requirements; tests and reports are prepared, approved and included in documentation packages.
- Witness site & laboratory tests related to civil activities.
- Monitor that materials and equipment are used in accordance with specifications.
- Carry out random checks on receiving inspection of certified batch plants, mixers, lifting gears, etc.
- Check delivery documents against purchase orders, specifications and material certificates.
- Reject any material not meeting specifications or not bearing an authentic material certificate.
- Carry out random dimensional checks on materials.
Followup on Corrective Actions to Close Out Nonconformances
Monitor trends of noncompliance to client requirements and feedback on the status of the contractor’s performance.Initiate surveillance / NCRs for QC Engineer approval.Requirements
Civil / Structural / Architecture degree and / or diploma with experience in quality control in a multi‑discipline construction environment.Preferably having formal training in QC and membership with a recognized chartered or professional institution.10 years experience in a similar position; experience in GCC is desirable.Sound working knowledge of QC aspects and various testing requirements related to major oil & gas, tank farm, pipeline and petrochemical construction projects.Ability to work well with contractors, personnel and colleagues at all levels in a multidisciplinary and multicultural environment.Nationality Limitation
