Qualifications

  • Degree / Diploma in Mechanical or Metallurgical Engineering (formal education in a professional college, leading to the Engineering degree / diploma).
  • Valid CSWIP 3.2.2 Senior Welding Inspector or AWS-SCWI certification
  • Professional certification as NDT Level-II in PT, MT, UT & RT Interpretation
  • Certified in accordance with SNT-TC-1A / CP-189 or other equivalent such as PCN / ISNT.
  • Certification in BGAS-CSWIP Painting Inspector Grade 1 / 2 or NACE Level-1 / 2 will be viewed favourably.
  • The personnel should be in the age group of 30-55 and experienced in inspection, testing, repair of pressure vessels and piping, steel structures, valves, at fabrication shop and construction sites, preferably worked for an operating company or for Oil & Gas projects.
  • Shall have minimum 8 years for Degree Holders or 12 years for Diploma Holders of experience, out of which at least 5 years of experience as QA / QC Inspector preferably in an operating company after attaining CSWIP 3.1 / AWS-CWI certification.
  • Good knowledge of International Codes, Standards and Specifications on materials, welding, fabrication, inspection and testing.
  • Able to interpret applicable Isometric drawings, P&IDs, material standards, specifications, technical data sheets, project specifications, and P.O. requirements to evaluate the acceptance of jobs or supplied materials.
  • Conversant with various NDT techniques such as RT, UT, MT and PT and able to interpret radiographs of welds.
  • Good written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Proficient with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook (email) for day-to-day work.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare QA / QC documents related to modification, repair or maintenance project works (Quality plan, Inspection & Test Plan, QA / QC procedures, WPS, Welder Qualification Records, Operating Procedures, Method Statements, etc.).
  • Prepare QA / QC documents required for Shutdown planning, review work packs, identify and perform critical material inspections prior to shutdown, perform inspections and provide support during shutdown execution, including for discovery / repair works on equipment and piping.
  • Perform and ensure stage-wise inspections for repair / modification / replacement jobs at the plant, including material inspection, PMI, witness of pressure tests, and inputs for risk assessments.
  • Evaluate deviations and requests for hydrotest waivers; perform valve inspection, review MTC / requirements with respect to asset specifications, witness valve testing at Workshop or Contractor’s shop and prepare Valve Test Reports.
  • Review Contractor QA / QC documentation for maintenance projects.
  • Perform inspections at site, warehouse and Contractor premises on received material or equipment (valves, piping, gaskets, fittings, heat exchangers, pressure vessels, lifting equipment, gas cylinders, etc.) to ensure conformity with purchase orders and specifications.
  • Coordinate for required NDT, call off RT crew, review NDT reports, interpret RT films, review PWHT charts & records; prepare QA / QC reports with details / pictures and maintain records / logs.
  • Be conversant with Meridium for QA / QC report preparation and SAP for material and work order details.
  • Interpret material standards, specifications, technical data sheets, project specifications, and P.O. requirements to evaluate acceptance of jobs or supplied materials.
  • Perform inspections during fabrication / erection by COMPANY or CONTRACTOR at COMPANY or CONTRACTOR premises; perform visual, dimensional inspections and employ NDT techniques as required.
  • Witness destructive tests on specimens to assess conformity to specifications and standards; provide / supervise QA / QC activities (Welding / PMI / Painting / NDT / Hydrostatic tests) on COMPANY equipment or facilities at COMPANY sites or CONTRACTOR premises.
  • Assist supervisor in supplier and contractor QA / QC audits and provide technical evaluation and recommendations to other departments.
  • General computer skills (MS Word, Excel, etc.) are required for daily reporting and communication; may involve web searches for technical information.
  • Undertake additional inspection-related duties as directed by the Supervisor.
