Position Title : Engineer - EFCC Electrical & Instrument

Job Purpose
The EFCC Electrical & Instrument Engineer is responsible for analysing electrical and instrumentation maintenance activities within EFCC, providing technical support and leadership to ensure proactive, cost-effective maintenance and engineering services. The role maximises plant availability and reliability, identifies technical improvements, and supports achievement of operational efficiency, quality output, and budgetary control with minimal cost.
Key Accountabilities
- Technical Maintenance Activities
- Analyze daily maintenance activities against plans and make adjustments as required to support objectives.
- Review calibration and maintenance results to identify and implement technical improvements or equipment developments.
- Troubleshoot technical problems and implement effective solutions.
- Conduct technical research and apply new knowledge to improve operations.
- Review engineering designs for new projects and identify variations.
- Prepare tender documents for CAPEX projects, evaluate technical offers, manage project timelines, coordinate execution, and ensure completion within approved schedules.
- Liaise with operations teams to interpret requirements and represent them in the field.
- Carry out and supervise maintenance for critical plant equipment and automation systems to minimise downtime.
- Ensure maintenance programmes (preventive, predictive, breakdown) are executed as planned.
- Coordinate with vendors, technology suppliers, and third parties for upgrades, troubleshooting, and maintenance support.
- Recommend and evaluate equipment / systems for procurement, provide technical specifications, and ensure effective commissioning.
- Manage discrete projects and contribute to larger initiatives from feasibility to implementation.
- Apply technical expertise across electrical and instrumentation systems in EF, CC process, electrode regulation systems, transformers, automation, etc.
- Evaluate opportunities for cost-effective alternatives or spare part substitutions.
- Planning
- Estimate costs for annual OPEX and CAPEX budgets and project timelines.
- Prepare long-term maintenance plans (5-year horizon) for management approval.
- Plan and coordinate procurement of equipment, systems, and spares.
- Budgeting & Inventory Control
- Propose annual OPEX / CAPEX budgets for management approval.
- Monitor monthly budget consumption against approved plans.
- Supporting Activities
- Support OT cyber security monitoring and control.
- Provide technical guidance and development support to the team.
- Assist management in achieving corporate objectives such as safety, profitability, and sustainability.
- Data Recording & Analysis
- Review inspection results and perform data analysis to predict potential issues.
- Ensure all data records comply with ISO 9001, 14001, 45001, and other relevant standards.
- Reporting
- Prepare reports with data analysis and recommendations to improve performance.
- Report technical abnormalities and recommend corrective actions.
- Review delays and fault reports, performing root-cause analysis.
- Continuous Improvement
- Identify improvements to policies, procedures, and operating standards.
- Lead technical development in equipment and process maintenance to meet KPIs.
- Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)
- Identify hazards, assess risks, and take appropriate actions to ensure a safe working environment.
- Ensure compliance with HSE procedures and report incidents with recommended actions.
- Participate in PSM and HAZOP studies and support monthly safety activities.
- Policies, Processes & Procedures
- Monitor compliance with codes, QA / QC policies, performance standards, and specifications.
- Draft and maintain standard operating procedures for all maintenance activities.
- Ensure continuous improvement in operational integrity by monitoring compliance.

Qualifications, Experience & Skills
