Job Summary
Supervise and control the entire drilling operations activities during the day shift, ensuring the successful completion of the well and drilling activities while liaising closely with OIM considering the safety of personnel, the environment, and equipment to maximize drilling operation efficiency.
Roles & Responsibilities
Drilling Operations
- Ensures the safety of personnel, equipment, and the efficiency of operations on the drill floor and other drilling operation associated areas.
- Plans and schedules all drilling and associated activity. Directs personnel towards achieving optimum job performance according to the client’s requirements.
- Ensures any deviation from client well plan (Game Plan) is approved by OIM, and that Client representative has documented in written form.
- Consult with the OIM / Night Tool pusher and Client’s Representative regarding the progress of the Drilling program and associated operations, keeping the driller informed about the ongoing drilling program objectives and communicating any changes in plans.
- Relieve the Driller at the Driller’s console as operational requirement demands.
- Ensures by pre-planning that all necessary equipment is ready for the next phase of the Drilling / Workover program.
- Assists & supervises drilling crew at the worksite at all relevant times, ensuring circulating time is sufficient and the well is stable on trips, when the BHA is being worked and whenever there is a hole problem.
- Operates the drilling unit with strict adherence to company Drilling & Well Control manuals, by reviewing and approving all drilling related work permits.
Well Control
Ensure that well control requirements are in place according to operational requirements - assist in supervising well killing operations in any well control situation.Plans & monitors comprehensive well control parameters to proactively identify any signs of well control issues for early detection and swift response.Maintains and regularly tests well control equipment, in accordance with Company’s and Client’s requirement ensuring its readiness and effectiveness in critical situations.Perform all well control calculations (i.e., mud weight increase, initial and final circulating pressures, number of strokes, etc.).Management Of Major Emergencies
To be part of the installation’s Emergency Response Team as detailed in the Emergency Plan and in Company Procedures.Ensure that all personnel are instructed in the procedures to be adopted in the case of an emergency.Ensure that Well Control and general safety drills are held and recorded in accordance with Company requirements.Materials Equipment
Assist the OIM / Night Toolpusher in ensuring the installation has sufficient stock of parts and materials to perform drilling and associated operations as per contractual requirements.Ensure planned maintenance and repair of drilling equipment including draw works, mud pumps, top drive, rotary table, and BOP are completed and documented to ensure optimum condition and proper availability of required tools.Rig Move
Carries out related duties to prepare the rig for towing, ensure the cantilever, rig floor and drilling equipment are correctly secured by the drilling crew prior to the rig move.Client Management
Promote and maintain an effective working relationship with other departments, third party personnel and Client representatives.Responds to client requests and needs concerning materials, equipment, and personnel after getting adequate management approval.Reporting And Documentation
Maintains proper logs and records, promptly submitting required reports as per company protocols and regulatory standards.Prepare accurate and timely reports, including daily drilling reports, equipment status reports, and incident reports, to document drilling activities and operational performance.People Management & Development
Provide clear instructions to their team regarding their duties, responsibilities, and any necessary safety precautions prior to commencing work.Mentor, develop and train their team to ensure safe and effective operations.Identifies opportunities for skill and career advancement, works to support the professional growth of their team.Ensure their team receives the necessary required training to perform their duties safely and effectively through on-the-job training, classroom training, and participation in safety drills and exercises.Support, promote and actively participate in ADES’s Competency Assurance Program for their team.Evaluates the performance of their team on constant and fair feedback basis, identify areas for improvement, drive ADVANCE process to formalize a performance management culture.Job Requirements
Education & Experience
Minimum education level required : High School or Vocational / Technical QualificationMinimum twelve (12) years of working experience in drilling and workover operations with reputable drilling contractors with a career history showing time served as an Assistant Driller and Driller.Minimum one (1) year in the current position.Must have working experience on Offshore rigs.Skills / Competencies Required
Intermediate level in English language (written & spoken)PC literate in Microsoft OfficeAdvanced Mathematical skills “adding, subtracting, dividing, multiplying”, drilling practice, drilling fluids.”Situation Awareness, Communication, Teamwork, Performance shaping factors— stress and fatigue, inspecting work.Physical Requirements
Regularly climbing (stairs, ladders).Regularly bending, twisting, and standing.Ability to work outdoors under all extreme weather conditions (Noise / Humidity / Cold / Heat).Ability to work up to 12 hours / day during his shift.Certifications
