Job Summary :
The HSSE Inspector is responsible for conducting inspections, audits, and monitoring of offshore work environments to ensure compliance with all Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental standards. The role supports proactive hazard identification, implementation of control measures, and helps drive a safety-first culture onboard offshore installations.
Key Responsibilities :
Conduct daily HSSE inspections across work areas to identify non-conformities, unsafe acts, and conditions.
Monitor and verify compliance with PTW (Permit to Work), risk assessments, and control measures for high-risk activities (e.g., hot work, confined space entry, working at height).
Perform safety walkthroughs, environmental compliance checks, and audits in accordance with company and regulatory standards.
Report and document all observations, near misses, incidents, and hazards using the company’s reporting tools or systems.
Support incident investigations and root cause analysis (RCA), and follow up on corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
Monitor proper use of PPE, safe work practices, and emergency preparedness systems.
Liaise with crew members and contractors to raise safety awareness and ensure understanding of site HSSE requirements.
Assist in conducting safety drills, toolbox talks, and emergency response exercises.
Participate in environmental monitoring and waste management inspections (spills, discharges, containment).
Prepare daily HSSE inspection reports and submit findings to offshore and onshore HSSE teams.
Requirements
Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in HSSE inspections in offshore environments (e.g., oil rigs, offshore platforms, wind farms, barges).
Valid certifications :
NEBOSH IGC or equivalent safety qualification (mandatory)
BOSIET / HUET / OGUK Medical (mandatory for offshore work)
H2S awareness, confined space entry, and gas testing certification (preferred)
Strong understanding of offshore safety regulations and international standards (ISO 45001, MARPOL, ISM Code, SOLAS).
Familiarity with PTW systems, safety audits, and risk assessment techniques.
Excellent attention to detail, observation, and reporting skills.
Ability to work under pressure and maintain high standards in isolated offshore environments.
Education & Certifications :
Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related technical field (preferred).
NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC) – Mandatory .
BOSIET / HUET (Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training) – Mandatory for offshore deployment.
H2S Awareness , Confined Space Entry , and Gas Testing certification – preferred or required, depending on site requirements.
ISO 45001 / 14001 Internal Auditor Certification – an added advantage.
First Aid / CPR and Firefighting Training – preferred .
Additional training in Incident Investigation (e.g., TapRooT, RCA, HAZID / HAZOP) is a plus.
