When working in Hawaii, it is important to understand Hawaiian culture and the spirit of ‘ohana, or ‘family,’ in addition to learning the functional aspects of hotel operations, such as making beds and handling luggage. During the opening of the first Andaz property in Hawaii, our team participated in Hawaiian culture training to deepen this understanding.

Responsibilities for the Commis Chef - Colleague Restaurant role include :

• Learning and practicing various cooking methods under senior chefs’ supervision
• Regularly cleaning and sanitizing kitchen tools, utensils, and equipment
• Assisting in meal preparation as directed by senior chefs, such as the Sous Chef or Chef de Partie
• Receiving, checking, and storing deliveries of fresh food and supplies
• Participating in different kitchen sections to gain comprehensive knowledge
