Position Summary QNBN is seeking a visionary Director of Engineering to lead the strategic development of Qatar’s national telecom infrastructure. This role is pivotal in driving innovation, reliability, and scalability across terrestrial, submarine, and IP / SDN networks.

Detailed Job Description As the Director of Engineering, you will spearhead the design, deployment, and optimization of QNBN’s core network systems, ensuring they meet global standards for performance and resilience. You’ll lead cross-functional engineering teams, collaborate with international vendors, and oversee mission-critical projects that shape the digital backbone of Qatar. This is a high-impact leadership role offering the opportunity to influence national connectivity and future-proof telecom infrastructure in a rapidly evolving landscape.

✅ Key Responsibilities

Lead the end-to-end engineering strategy for terrestrial, submarine, and IP / SDN networks

Oversee network architecture, planning, and implementation to ensure scalability and security

Manage vendor relationships and evaluate emerging technologies for integration

Ensure compliance with international telecom standards and regulatory requirements

Drive continuous improvement in network performance, uptime, and customer experience

Mentor and develop engineering talent across multiple disciplines

Required Qualifications & Skills

Minimum 10 years of experience in telecom network engineering, with leadership exposure

Proven expertise in Transmission, IP Networking, SD-WAN, and SDN technologies

Strong understanding of submarine cable systems and terrestrial fiber infrastructure

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or related field

Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills

✨ Nice-to-Have Skills

Experience with network virtualization and cloud-native telecom solutions

Familiarity with international telecom standards (e.g., ITU, IEEE, MEF)

Certifications such as CCNP, JNCIP, or equivalent

Exposure to smart city or national broadband initiatives

Arabic language proficiency is a plus
