Job Purpose
The Business Development Manager will lead and manage commercial growth activities in Qatar and international markets, identifying new investment opportunities and overseeing projects in the power and water sectors. The role involves building strong relationships with contractors, developers, and strategic partners to support ongoing and future business initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Construction and Project Oversight
- Coordinate and supervise construction activities across multiple plant sites, ensuring completion on time, within budget, and in accordance with technical specifications.
- Provide regular progress updates and strategic reports to senior management, including financial and technical assessments.
- Lead contractual and technical discussions with external stakeholders involved in project development.
- Review and analyse contractor performance reports and highlight critical issues requiring escalation.
- Maintain a clear understanding of the company's construction capabilities and growth areas.
Business Development and Market Analysis
Lead business development activities across EMEA, the Americas, and APAC, analysing trends, identifying investment opportunities, and supporting strategic expansion.Evaluate external and internal business environments, including economic, regulatory, and competitive factors, to inform decision‑making.Build and maintain relationships with consultants, advisors, and market research organisations.Prepare technical and financial feasibility studies in collaboration with finance and M&A teams.Strategy Development and Implementation
Develop departmental strategies aligned with organisational goals and long‑term growth plans.Provide expert input on market positioning, competitiveness, and emerging business models.Support senior leadership with strategic recommendations and data‑driven insights.Leadership and Team Management
Lead, coach, and develop a multidisciplinary team to achieve business objectives.Oversee performance management, succession planning, and talent development initiatives.Foster collaboration and accountability across teams and regions.Financial Management
Prepare and manage departmental budgets and forecasts, monitoring performance against targets.Identify areas for cost optimisation and operational improvement.Policies, Systems, and Processes
Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure efficiency, consistency, and compliance.Promote continuous improvement and change management across business processes.Reporting and Governance
Ensure timely preparation of departmental reports that meet internal quality and governance standards.Provide strategic input to management committees and support corporate reporting requirements.Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or a related discipline (MBA preferred).Minimum 12 years of relevant experience in large organisations, including at least 5 years in senior management roles.Proven experience in business development within the power, energy, or water sectors.Strong leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.Excellent communication and presentation abilities.Fluent in English; Arabic language skills are an advantage.Experience managing multicultural teams and working across international markets.Additional Information
