The Chief Engineer is responsible for all administrative, financial, and operating aspects related to the Maintenance division. The incumbent will ensure high quality maintenance and functionality of all interior and exterior areas of the hotel to provide a consistent and excellent guest experience while maintaining health & safety for all guests and employees.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the maintenance and repair of all hotel areas and equipment, including painting, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and fire protection systems.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to ensure optimal functioning and longevity of equipment and facilities.
- Lead and manage a team of maintenance technicians and engineers, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure high performance and adherence to safety protocols.
- Conduct regular one‑to‑one conversations and year‑end reviews with the Maintenance team.
- Schedule and prioritize work assignments, projects, and repairs based on operational needs and guest requirements.
- Ensure that room maintenance requests are handled in a prompt and courteous manner.
- Review and follow up on guest feedback scores (OSAT).
- Prepare and manage the departmental budget, monitoring expenses and controlling costs related to maintenance and repair activities.
- Source and procure materials, supplies, and equipment necessary for maintenance operations, ensuring cost‑effectiveness and quality.
- Plan and oversee capital improvement projects, renovations, and upgrades to hotel facilities and infrastructure.
- Coordinate with external contractors, architects, and engineers to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to required specifications.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations, as well as building standards.
- Develop and maintain emergency response procedures and protocols, including disaster preparedness and recovery plans.
- Respond promptly to emergency situations, such as equipment failures, power outages, or natural disasters, to minimize disruption and ensure guest and employee safety.
- Follow up on all alarms immediately to determine exact location and cause, determine emergency status, and report findings to Front Desk; take immediate action as necessary.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, repairs, and equipment documentation.
- Prepare regular reports for management on departmental performance, project status, and budget variance analysis.

A recognised Engineering / Maintenance qualification.Minimum 2 years’ experience as an Assistant Chief Engineer within a similar‑sized branded hotel.Business / hospitality management BA qualification is an advantage.Work experience in the GCC is preferred.Seniority level : Executive
