JOB PURPOSE / OBJECTIVE Responsible for ensuring the safe planning and execution of all rigging and lifting activities, including engineering calculations and the development of lifting plans. Also responsible for maintaining all rigging tools and equipment.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES People Management
Monitor and supervise the activities of Baseload Rigging and Equipment Operator Contractors to ensure safe and efficient work in alignment with business plans, policies, and procedures.
Ensure contractor compliance with all company policies, procedures, standard maintenance practices, and daily instructions during routine maintenance and unit shutdowns.
Supervise contractors during Turnarounds (TAs) to ensure safe execution and timely task completion.
Ensure all team members complete mandatory compliance training and maintain valid certifications; assess and manage training needs for riggers and equipment operators.
Provide technical guidance and clear instructions to personnel.
Routine Duties
Prepare rigging plans and approve critical lift permits, including review of contractor plans.
Optimize costs through appropriate crane selection and manage all lifting and rigging equipment.
Support emergency responses, planned shutdowns (SDs), and TA maintenance activities.
Lead Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) for critical lifts; ensure timely inspection and inventory of all lifting and rigging equipment.
Create material master data for critical spare parts (consumables) and fast-moving items.
Coordinate with third parties for inspection, testing, and certification of cranes, elevators, and lifting equipment.
Implement and follow up on action items from action trackers, reliability improvement teams, and safety initiatives.
Participate in internal and external field audits and ensure closure of audit findings within deadlines.
Inspect incoming spare parts and materials using relevant technical documentation (e.g., OEM manuals, drawings).
Health, Security, Safety & Environment
Comply with all safety policies, procedures, and operational principles.
Embrace proactive safety culture and eliminate unsafe behaviors or conditions to support a zero-incident workplace.
Actively participate in the safety observation process in accordance with company expectations.
Conduct daily toolbox talks and monthly safety meetings to address HSE matters.
Perform regular safety walk-downs and audits; coordinate resolution of discrepancies.
Reporting
Liaise with the superintendent regarding any issues requiring additional support.
Ensure timely and accurate reporting to meet departmental standards and requirements.
Promptly report all HSE events and near misses per company procedures.
Lead or participate in incident investigations, perform root cause analyses, and develop action plans.
Maintain proper records of all corrective and preventive maintenance activities.
Requirements QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE Education
Required :
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering.
Experience
Required :
Minimum 5 years of experience in rigging and lifting, with advanced skills in engineering static lifting calculations.
Preferred :
Minimum 8 years of experience in the oil & gas industry.
Certifications & Competencies
Competent Rigger Level II or equivalent.
Rigging Supervisor Training or equivalent.
Professional Rigger Training or equivalent.
Proficient in SAP and Microsoft Office applications.
Strong coaching and mentoring abilities.
Advanced communication skills.
Languages
Required :
English – Proficient.
Preferred :
Arabic – Working knowledge.
