Job Description

Position Overview

The Account Executive / Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, and supporting the Finance Department's operations. The role requires a proactive individual who can manage multiple tasks efficiently, work collaboratively, and uphold the financial integrity of Oryx Universal College.

Key Responsibilities

1. Financial Records and Reporting :

  • Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, including journals, ledgers, and reconciliations.
  • Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
  • Support budget preparation and monitor expenditure against approved budgets.

2. Accounts Payable and Receivable :

  • Process invoices, payments, and receipts in a timely manner.
  • Manage tuition fee collection, including payment plans and follow-ups on overdue accounts.
  • 3. Compliance and Auditing :

  • Ensure compliance with local financial regulations and organisational policies.
  • Assist in the preparation of documents for internal and external audits.
  • 4. Financial Analysis :

  • Analyse financial data to provide insights and recommendations for decision-making.
  • Assist in cost analysis and financial forecasting.
  • 5. Other Duties :

  • Support the Chief Accountant with ad hoc tasks and special projects.
  • Collaborate with other departments to provide financial advice and resolve queries.
  • Requirements

  • Education : Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A professional qualification such as ACCA, CIMA, or CPA is highly desirable.
  • Experience : Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in accounting or financial management, preferably in an academic or higher education setting.
  • Language Skills : Fluent in English, both written and verbal. Fluency in Arabic is an added advantage.
  • Technical Proficiency :
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.

  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, or similar).
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Interpersonal Skills :
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong organisational and time management abilities.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
