We’re looking for a talented leader to help open WHOOP Labs Doha, our first international product research facility. The Doha lab will partner with the WHOOP Labs Boston team to conduct mixed-methods research to support physiology, user experience, and consumer studies. To serve the company’s diverse testing and validation needs, WHOOP Labs completes tens of thousands of data collections a year and creates best in class experience for our participants. WHOOP Labs Doha will set the bar for product innovation research in the GCC, setting strategy for participant experience and contributing to advancing WHOOP technology.
We’re looking for someone with a proven track record collaborating internationally and leading a cross-functional team, who is excited to work with our members and isn’t afraid to roll up their sleeves and get sweaty. This position is in‑person in Doha, Qatar with potential travel to Boston, MA 1‑2 times per year.
This role is based in the Doha, Qatar. We will only consider candidates who currently live in Doha, Qatar.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Own the development and execution of the WHOOP Labs Doha opening strategy, including team hiring, participant compensation structure, and setting operating hours
- Champion research integrity, including ensuring that data collection tools and team practices align with local regulations for ethical human subjects research
- Define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of program initiatives and track progress towards goals
- Ensure clear communication between the Boston and Doha labs, developing ways of working that support multi‑facility research execution
- Represent Doha culture and unique participant experience factors in broader strategic conversations with the rest of the WHOOP human subjects research team
- Build the WHOOP Labs Doha brand and represent WHOOP in the GCC region
- Reports to the Director of Human Subjects Research
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree in a field related to human subjects research such as psychology, neuroscience, exercise physiology, or consumer science5+ years of full‑time professional experience in a related area2+ years of success leading a diversely skilled teamExperience working on a distributed international team preferredDeep knowledge of local culture and ability to thoughtfully communicate localization considerations for research at WHOOP Labs DohaUnderstanding of best practices regarding human subjects research, including how to obtain IRB approval for new research projects; research ethics, data privacy, and consentTrack record of successful project management, including resource allocation, timeline management, and risk mitigationExcellent verbal and written communication skills.Strong organizational skills, ability to plan ahead while still being flexible and able to work around challengesStrong networking and collaboration skills, with experience in building partnerships and engaging with external stakeholdersAbility to present findings to stakeholders and effectively communicate with company leadersExcitement to work in a high‑energy, fast‑paced startup environmentUnderstanding of branding and marketing as it applies to research in industry spacesFluency in verbal and written English, WHOOP’s working languageInterested in the role, but don’t meet every qualification?
