Senior Subsea Engineer (Cable) – long‑term contract (2‑4 years) with a national oil and gas operator in Doha. Responsibilities
Execute all phases of emergency cable repair lifecycle activities, including cable identification, criticality report assessment, advising clients and JV partners, cable isolation, damage detection, preliminary damage assessment, repair method selection based on scenarios, damage metrology survey, repair execution, testing, acceptance, and assistance with re‑commissioning and start‑up.
Responsible for Subsea Cable Specialized Repair work within the EPRS Division to ensure readiness and resource adequacy for immediate pipeline repair requirements.
Support preparation of the EPRS / 5‑Year CAPEX, OPEX, and Master Procurement Plan (MPP).
Act as Technical Assurance and oversee execution of Subsea Cable Specialized Repair Engineering works and associated activities.
Establish, implement, maintain, and continuously improve Subsea Cable Specialized Repair Engineering Management System Standards, Guidelines, Procedures, and Manuals.
Conduct routine readiness checks for Subsea Cable Specialized Repair Engineering to ensure swift emergency response.
Develop project and technical documents, providing technical assurance and quality management for documents prepared by contractors.
Interface with Contractor Asset Team and JV partners to ensure smooth planning, execution, and close‑out reports for Subsea Cable Specialized Repair Engineering works.
Prepare material specifications, datasheets, inspection requirements, and draft technical specifications for EPC / maintenance scopes for procurement, including site visits and supervision.
Guide and supervise less experienced engineers on all aspects of Subsea Pipeline Specialized Repair work.
Qualifications
Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture, Ocean Engineering, Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Subsea Engineering or related discipline from a recognised university.
Minimum fifteen (15) years of relevant oil and gas industry experience in a similar role.
Knowledge of relevant international standards and codes of practice (Shell DEP) and experience in design specifications, repair, and selection of cable systems.
Chartered Engineer / Professional Engineer with membership in the relevant professional body desirable.
Computer‑literate and proficient in English (reading, writing, speaking).
Experience in cable integrity and management systems and in coordinating offshore subsea inspection teams.
Extensive field experience in subsea cable inspection, repair & maintenance (IRM) techniques and equipment.
Advanced technical expertise in resolving complex subsea cable operation and maintenance issues.
Proven leadership and supervision experience with subsea cable engineers and associated technical staff.
Self‑starter ability to handle multiple priorities without close monitoring.
Resilient under pressure, able to manage competing priorities and complex issues.
