A Project Director will efficiently maintain all hotel renovation operations such that safety, security, communication, and compliance are ensured at the highest levels.
What will I be doing The Project Director is responsible for leading and managing the renovation of a hotel property, ensuring the project is completed on time, within budget, and according to design specifications. This includes overseeing all aspects of the renovation process from pre‑construction through to completion.
Project Planning & Coordination
Oversee the entire renovation project from initial planning through completion.
Develop detailed project plans including schedules, milestones, budget, and resource allocation.
Coordinate with architects, designers, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure all work aligns with the hotel’s renovation vision.
Ensure that the renovation plan aligns with brand standards, local regulations, and guest expectations.
Team Leadership & Management
Lead and manage the renovation team, including in‑house staff and external contractors.
Ensure clear communication and collaboration between all project team members.
Provide leadership and direction, resolve conflicts, and address performance issues.
Assign tasks, track progress, and ensure the team adheres to timelines and quality standards.
Budget & Financial Management
Develop, monitor, and control the renovation budget, ensuring all costs are tracked and managed effectively.
Negotiate contracts with contractors, vendors, and suppliers, ensuring value for money while maintaining quality standards.
Approve invoices and change orders, ensuring they are within the allocated budget.
Provide regular budget updates to senior management, ensuring timely adjustments to stay within financial limits.
Construction & Renovation Oversight
Oversee all aspects of the renovation, including guest rooms, common areas, amenities, and back‑of‑house spaces.
Ensure construction processes meet hotel operational needs with minimal disruption to existing guests and services.
Monitor the quality of work, ensuring it meets safety standards and design specifications.
Ensure timely delivery of materials and services required for the renovation.
Risk Management & Compliance
Identify and mitigate potential risks throughout the renovation project, including safety, financial, and operational risks.
Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, building, and zoning codes, as well as environmental regulations.
Ensure that the project is completed on time and without significant delays.
Project Communication
Serve as the primary point of contact between hotel management, ownership, contractors, and other stakeholders.
Provide regular updates to senior leadership and ownership regarding progress, challenges, and milestones.
Communicate effectively with hotel management teams to ensure that renovation activities align with operational goals.
Scheduling & Timelines
Develop and maintain a detailed project schedule, ensuring deadlines are met and any delays are addressed immediately.
Coordinate with hotel management to ensure renovation activities cause minimal disruption to hotel operations and guest experience.
Manage and adjust timelines as necessary due to unforeseen challenges.
Post‑Renovation Review
Oversee the final inspection and handover of the completed renovation to hotel management.
Ensure that all renovation work is thoroughly inspected and signed off before hotel reopening.
Conduct a post‑project evaluation to identify lessons learned and ensure continuous improvement for future renovations.
What Are We Looking For
Minimum years of experience in project management with a focus on hotel renovations or hotel pre‑opening projects.
Advanced knowledge of building management / engineering.
A degree in Engineering or a similar field.
Exposure to budgeting and basic accounting.
Positive attitude.
Good communication skills.
Committed to delivering a high level of customer service.
Strong leadership skills and previous experience managing a team.
Excellent grooming standards.
Flexibility to respond to a range of different work situations.
Ability to work under pressure.
Ability to work independently.
Previous experience of facilities management.
Proficiency at an advanced level with computers and relevant computer programs.
It Would Be Advantageous
First Aid certification.
Additional qualification in engineering and project management.
