Job Description

As an Electrical Technician, you will play a crucial role in the design, installation, and maintenance of electrical systems and equipment. You will be responsible for ensuring that all electrical components are functioning properly and meet safety standards. This role requires a meticulous eye for detail and the ability to troubleshoot complex electrical systems effectively. You will work closely with engineers and other technicians to ensure the efficient operation of electrical systems in various settings, including industrial, commercial, and residential. A successful Electrical Technician should be adept at reading and interpreting technical diagrams and schematics, and have a strong understanding of electrical codes and safety regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures in a safe manner.
  • Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards and defects.
  • Diagnose electrical problems using diagrams and testing devices to pinpoint malfunctions.
  • Read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, and diagrams to perform installations.
  • Plan the layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures following specifications.
  • Collaborate with engineers and other technicians on electrical system design and troubleshooting.
  • Ensure compliance with all national and local electrical codes and safety standards.
  • Perform maintenance and repairs of electrical components to ensure proper functioning.
  • Estimate materials, equipment, and time required to complete assigned electrical projects.
  • Utilize handheld tools and power tools to install and repair wiring systems.
  • Provide training and guidance to apprentices and junior technicians as needed.
  • Keep detailed records of installations, maintenance, and repairs performed on electrical systems.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of technical training in electrical work preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working as an Electrical Technician or similar role.
  • Strong understanding and knowledge of electrical systems, codes, and safety regulations.
  • Ability to read and understand technical diagrams, blueprints, and schematics effectively.
  • Proficiency with electrical testing devices and hand and power tools required for installations.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot electrical systems efficiently.
  • Physical stamina and dexterity to perform tasks such as climbing and lifting heavy objects.
