Principal Offshore Structural Engineer

Overview

Principal Offshore Structural Engineer role at Wood in Doha, Qatar. This is a long-term position delivering across study, FEED, EPC and PMC scopes of work. You will execute project work in accordance with the project execution plan, including Wood and / or Project Procedures on Safety and Quality Control within the project targets for man-hours, cost, and schedule. Reflecting the market focus for the office in brownfield and greenfield opportunities, multi-skilled personnel are sought, particularly those with experience in offshore oil and gas with onshore oil and gas project knowledge. Responsibilities

Lead and guide a team of structural engineers and designers to generate FEED and detailed engineering design basis, specifications, drawings, and associated calculations; recommend technical solutions for topsides and jacket for greenfield and brownfield modification projects. Act as Lead Engineer in project execution, owning specific tasks within the project. QA / QC of structural deliverables; review comments and ensure changes are included on latest documents. Check and correct design reports and drawings produced by the team to meet project requirements. Conduct technical reviews to ensure compliance with client specifications and resolve project technical queries. Ensure adherence to engineering practices, regulatory requirements, and customer specifications. Manage project scope / cost / time requirements and coordinate with other disciplines to ensure project success. Familiarity with international and client codes and standards for offshore structures. Assist the Discipline Manager and lead structural engineer duties as required; provide on-the-job training and supervision of engineers. Motivate team members and foster collaboration to maximize productivity and morale. Build positive relationships with external parties (customers, suppliers, contractors); support proposals and resource planning. Undertake other duties within competency as required by the Discipline Manager; manage commercial and technical risks and highlight significant issues. Support project change management and progress tracking with the Project Management Team; implement innovative solutions and methods to handle out-of-sequence work. Ensure Wood and Client Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality procedures are followed; maintain high safety standards. Stay up to date with latest technical developments and deliver challenging projects to client targets using sound technical knowledge and decision-making. Identify opportunities for department and project improvement and contribute to developing solutions. Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Structural or Offshore Marine Engineering. Minimum 15 years of experience in Oil & Gas industry and offshore engineering design consultancy. Enrolled on the Register of Engineers in the State of Qatar, Grade A, or be a Chartered Engineer if not enrolled. Proven track record as a Structural Lead for Topsides and Jacket projects. Experience across greenfield and brownfield projects, Pre-FEED through EPC, onshore and offshore. Extensive offshore structural engineering experience including design, analysis, modification, and life-extension strategies. Experience on offshore life-extension projects in regions such as North Sea, Middle East, or Asia-Pacific. Understanding of substructure and topsides in-service analyses; pre-service analyses beneficial. Proven experience performing advanced structural analysis using SACS (essential). Strong knowledge of international and client standards (ISO, API, AISC, CAP437, DNV, Shell Dep, etc.). Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team of engineers; strong communication and organizational skills. Ability to work independently / remotely from technical leadership while coordinating with Doha office. Hands-on experience with SACS, USFOS, GRLWEAP, and FEA programs. Strong work management, problem-solving, and communication skills; experience in small project offices and cross-disciplinary activities. About Us
