Charge Nurse

Job Responsibilities 1

Identifies and assesses patient safety concerns with respect to age and developmental considerations. Intervenes to provide a safe environment and evaluates effectiveness of intervention for patient.

Provides expert comprehensive direct and indirect care to the specific populations needs, including cultural, spiritual, age, psychosocial, communication, gender, sexual orientation, economic, education, family, and condition needs.

Provides advanced assessment skills, integrating appropriate data sources to assess the signs, symptoms, reactions, behaviors, or general appearance to determine normal versus abnormal characteristics.

Evaluates and works to improve the process of patient care delivery within the unit.

Performs skin tests, immunizations, phlebotomy, and the initiation of peripheral venous access.

Serves as a clinical and operational resource for all nursing activities in the department. Provides assistance to co-workers, new staff, temporary staff and students.

Delegates and assigns tasks to health care workers within the scope of their job responsibilities.

Job Responsibilities 2

Evaluates, facilitates, and promotes patient flow, coordinates discharge planning and team rounding.

Participates in the completion of required competencies.

Assumes responsibility for mentoring, coaching and staff development. Contributes to performance evaluations.

Coaches and supports nursing staff in the application of advanced clinical skills and critical thinking to support patient.

• Regulatory Ability to interpret and apply knowledge of standards to comply with regulations
• Communication Ability to convey and / or receive written / verbal information to / from various audiences in different formats
• Technical Ability to operate mechanical / medical devices and / or equipment

• Analytical Ability to apply critical thinking to analyze and interpret information and / or data
• Quality Ability to provide and / or support a level of work excellence and accuracy; recognize and address flaws or errors that others may overlook
• Management Ability to motivate, monitor, measure, recognize and improve performance and morale
• ERP knowledge preferably SAP functional skills are a requirement to be successful in this role.
