Overview
An international energy operator is seeking a Head of Contracts (Construction – Claim) to lead the contracts subteam managing a multi-billion EPCC contract. The role contributes to safe, on-time, and on-budget project delivery and supports building a Major Projects Contract Centre of Expertise. The position focuses on claims management, contract strategy, and supporting digital transformation initiatives in the supply / contract / procurement function.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the contract subteam in managing post-award EPCC contracts until close-out
- Deliver Value Protection plans and manage the change order process to maximise value for the company and stakeholders
- Provide expertise on claims and dispute prevention and resolution, aligned with corporate governance
- Maintain effective relationships with project management, legal, risk management, and functional managers to address contract issues
- Develop post-award contract management strategies and scenarios for NFS Onshore
- Coordinate contract evaluations and end-of-contract close-outs according to relevant procedures
- Work effectively under schedule and capital expenditure pressures in a high-visibility project environment
- Provide central coordination for contractual responses to EPC contractors and ensure alignment across projects
- Support management in claims evaluation, planning, and preparation of material for Major Projects reporting and analysis
- Collaborate with Project Managers to implement quick-win and medium-term improvement projects supporting the Major Projects digital strategy
- Assist in recruiting, retaining, and developing world-class professionals, including Qatari talent
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Law, or EngineeringExperience
Minimum 10 years’ experience in multi-billion lump-sum major energy projects (post-award) in a similar roleExperienced Project Managers, Construction Managers, or Project Control Managers may also applyTechnical and Business Skills
Strong influencing and leadership skillsExcellent business and risk acumenExperience in legal and dispute / claims resolution is advantageousProven ability to prepare well-documented commercial correspondenceExcellent written and oral communication skillsStrong interpersonal skills and team leadership capabilitiesAbility to drive continuous improvement while balancing short-term wins with strategic goalsAdditional Information
