Job Description :
The Scaffolder (Hot & Cold Work Specialist) is responsible for the safe erection, modification, and dismantling of scaffolding structures to support maintenance, repair, and construction activities during offshore shutdowns. This role requires expertise in both hot work (welding, grinding) and cold work (general maintenance) scaffolding configurations.
Key Responsibilities :
- Scaffolding Erection & Safety :
- Build, inspect, and dismantle tube-and-fitting and system scaffolding for hot and cold work zones.
- Ensure compliance with QatarEnergy (QP) scaffolding standards and OSHA / BS EN 12811 regulations.
- Install fire-resistant barriers for hot work areas and fall protection systems (guardrails, toe boards).
- Design heat-resistant scaffolding for welding, cutting, and grinding operations.
- Coordinate with HSE teams to implement fire watches and spark containment measures.
- Construct general access scaffolding for inspections, painting, and non-hazardous maintenance.
- Adapt structures for confined spaces (vessels, tanks) and high-risk areas (flare stacks, pipelines).
- Conduct daily scaffold inspections (tagging : green / yellow / red).
- Maintain records of scaffold tags, load ratings, and handover certificates.
- Lead a team of scaffold laborers and ensure toolbox talks are held.
- Liaise with construction supervisors and HSE officers to align with shutdown schedules.
Qualifications & Experience :
Education : High school diploma or trade certification in scaffolding.Certifications (Mandatory) :CISRS Advanced Scaffolder or Equivalent (OPQT Level 2 / 3).BOSIET / HUET (Offshore Survival), H2S / BA, T-BOSIET.Hot Work Permit Competency (QP / Shell Standards).5+ years in offshore / oil & gas scaffolding , with 3+ years in shutdown projects.Familiarity with QatarEnergy (QP), Shell, or TotalEnergies scaffolding protocols.Expertise in Cuplok, Kwikstage, and tube-and-clamp systems.Ability to interpret scaffolding drawings and load calculations.Market Wage in Qatar (2025) :
Daily Rate : $300 / day (varies by certification and project urgency).Junior Scaffolders : $300 / day (basic certifications).Senior Scaffolders (CISRS Advanced) : $450 / day (QP / Qatargas projects).Flights, offshore medical insurance, and hardship allowances.Rotation & Work Conditions :
Standard Rotation : 42 / 42 (for extended shutdowns).Work Hours : 12-hour shifts (day / night), 7 days / week during peak activity.Demand : High due to Qatars North Field Expansion (NFE) and LNG maintenance shutdowns.
