KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & ACTIVITIES :
To sterilize equipment in accordance with the departmental and hospital policies and procedures.
Pick up / receive, decontaminate, disassemble, reassemble and reprocess surgical instruments and distribute to the applicable patient care unit in accordance with the departmental and international standards.
Deliver and store all processed sterile instruments to the end users.
Ensure CSSD work areas are always kept clean and tidy and that all equipment are appropriately maintained according to manufacturer recommendation and departmental policies and procedures.
Complete assigned tasks as directed by the CSSD Supervisor and Senior CSSD Technician. Assist in the departmental inventory control.
Perform quality assurance monitoring and the operation of all decontamination and sterilization equipment.
Report any concerns about current or potential problems that have occurred or may compromise patient care to the CSSD Supervisor at the earliest.
Collaborate and participate with colleagues to facilitate and coordinate best technical practice. Work collaboratively with other health care team members to achieve the best health care outcome for the patient in accordance with the mission, vision and objectives of the hospital.
Participate and show commitment to educational activities. Maintain CSSD best practice through continued education and training. Maintain annual mandatory and core competencies relevant to the position.
Undertake self-development opportunities to promote and maintain knowledge and competence.
Follow all relevant departmental policies, processes and procedures so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner while delivering a world‑class service. Contribute to cost‑efficient usage of all applicable resources to reduce wastage and unnecessary expense.
Adhere to all relevant QHSSE procedures, instructions and controls so that AZF provides a safe, world‑class, secure and environmentally responsible service to customers, the public and its own people.
Assume or accept any other responsibilities as assigned by the direct supervisor within the position role and responsibility.
Patient Safety—Attend and successfully complete competencies which focus on patient safety initiatives implemented within Aspetar Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Hospital. Patient Safety Training is an annual requirement, to include all organizational leaders, staff, service and contracted providers.
Necessary knowledge and Experience to be able to do the job :
Minimum experience of 2‑4 years in which 1 year should be in a similar position / responsibility, preferably in a similar Industry.
Education and Certification requirements :
Diploma from a recognized School of Nursing or equivalent or professional qualification in sterilization. Bachelors will be an added advantage.
International CSSD License is ideal.
Fulfil all licensing requirements if required.
Job specific technical Skills :
Meticulous and pays attention to detail.
Professionally groomed to project a positive image.
High proficiency in English language is mandatory. Arabic will be a definitive advantage.
