Role Summary The PDS Piping Designer will manage the 3D modeling of piping systems, equipment layout, and associated deliverables using Intergraph PDS (Plant Design System). The role requires strong coordination with other engineering disciplines and a thorough understanding of applicable piping codes and standards.
Key Responsibilities
Develop 3D piping models in Intergraph PDS based on P&IDs, project specifications, and equipment layouts.
Prepare piping general arrangement (GA) drawings, isometric drawings, support drawings, and material take-offs (MTOs).
Model piping, equipment, and supports, ensuring accurate connectivity and clash‑free design.
Perform clash detection and coordinate with structural, civil, electrical, and instrumentation disciplines to resolve issues.
Update models and drawings in response to redline markups, design changes, and client comments.
Generate reports and interface files for review using SmartPlant Review (SPR) or Navisworks.
Ensure all deliverables comply with international and project‑specific standards.
Participate in model review sessions, design coordination meetings, and project progress reviews.
Qualifications & Requirements
Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
Minimum 5 years of experience in piping design using Intergraph PDS.
Strong understanding of piping layout concepts, equipment orientation, and plant design fundamentals.
Proficiency in PDS modules such as Equipment, Piping, Support Modeler, Drawing Manager, and Isogen.
Working knowledge of MicroStation, SmartPlant Review, and AutoCAD.
Experience in Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Refinery, or Power Plant projects preferred.
Experience with E3D and S3D considered an advantage.
Good communication and coordination skills across multidisciplinary teams.
Ability to work independently and deliver results under tight schedules.
