Wood has an opportunity for a Senior Structural Designer role to support future growth in our expanding business in Qatar.

The projects team focuses on delivering across FEED, Pre-FEED, Brownfield, Greenfield scopes of work. In this role, you will be responsible for the execution of project work in accordance with the project execution plan, including Wood and / or Project Procedures on Safety and Quality Control within the man-hour, cost and the project schedule targets. This is a long-term assignment based in Qatar.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to Wood and Client Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality procedures and maintains a high standard of safety in all associated work.
• Ensure drawings and modelling adhere to Wood, Client, project, and regulatory standards.
• Carry out various 3D modelling activities and preparation of deliverables for Concrete & Steel structures, Piperacks, all Deck structures and appurtenances, Jacket Structures, and related items.
• Ensure the quality, technical accuracy, and content of all project deliverables. Perform self-checking prior to issuing drawings, run clash checks in the 3D model, and ensure structural compliance and proper piece-marking and site zoning.
• Coordinate with all disciplines (as necessary) in the preparation and development of engineering deliverables and ensure input from other disciplines is incorporated.
• Interface with other disciplines to resolve clashes; if a clash cannot be resolved easily or will be resolved later, document it according to procedures.
• Perform site surveys and data gathering onshore and offshore.
• Plan assigned work, liaise with the project team and line manager to control man-hours and achieve targets.
• Participate in project reviews, design reviews, audits and other workshops as required.
• Remain up to date with the latest technical developments in fields of expertise.
• Takes a proactive approach to personal and professional development.
• Seeks and supports opportunities for department and project improvement, contributing to the development of solutions.
