Role Summary
The Department Head – IT Applications is responsible for leading and managing the IT Applications function at Doha Bank. This includes overseeing application development, change management, quality assurance, and deployment. The role involves strategic planning, cross-functional collaboration, and ensuring the alignment of IT initiatives with business goals. The incumbent will drive innovation, optimize application performance, and support enterprise-wide digital transformation.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Contribute to the development and execution of the IT strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Collaborate with the CDIO on budgeting, forecasting, and performance metrics for the IT Applications function.
- Lead innovation and transformation initiatives across the bank.
- Maintain awareness of regulatory changes and ensure compliance within the IT Applications domain.
- Represent the bank at external forums to promote technology leadership.
Operational Excellence
Develop and enforce policies and procedures for efficient IT application operations.Lead the creation and integration of application roadmaps with enterprise strategies.Oversee project lifecycles from business case development to deployment and post-launch support.Ensure effective change control, risk management, and stakeholder communication.Collaborate with business units to identify opportunities and deliver tailored IT solutions.Monitor performance metrics and ensure timely reporting to senior leadership.People Management
Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team.Support recruitment, performance management, and career development initiatives.Conduct regular performance reviews and ensure alignment with organizational goals.Promote a culture of continuous learning, accountability, and innovation.Key Interactions

Education :
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.Master’s degree in Management or a related discipline is preferred.Experience :
13–18 years in the financial services or banking sector.Proven leadership in managing IT business applications.Strong background in software development, application lifecycle management, and digital transformation.Technical Competencies
Deep knowledge of banking systems, middleware, and application architecture.Proficiency in programming, DevSecOps, agile methodologies, and CI / CD tools.Strong understanding of project and change management.Expertise in business analysis, performance management, and IT strategy alignment.Industry & Regulatory Knowledge
Up-to-date with industry trends and best practices.Familiarity with local and international banking regulations.Strong grasp of IT security and compliance frameworks.Certifications (Preferred)
PMP, CBAP, or equivalent industry-recognized certifications.Behavioral Competencies
