Position Maintenance Technician
Job Summary & Purpose The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing preventive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance of electrical and mechanical machinery. The role involves troubleshooting, repair, and overhauling of equipment to ensure optimal performance in compliance with company standards and safety requirements.
Key Accountabilities
Apply technical skills and knowledge to achieve target production throughput safely and efficiently in line with section plans, KPIs, company values, and IMS system.
Demonstrate work behavior consistent with company values, adhering to all policies, procedures, standards, and applicable legislative requirements.
Comply with health, safety, security, and environmental (HSSE) policies, ensuring personal and team safety.
Demonstrate proficiency in pneumatics, hydraulics, engines, controls, component clearances / fits, and overall machine operation and function.
Ensure compliance with quality management procedures to deliver high-quality maintenance services.
Troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical issues on production and auxiliary equipment.
Support the Supervisor and Engineer in preparing Root Cause Analysis (RCA) reports.
Identify defective components and communicate findings to the Supervisor and Engineer.
Assist in commissioning and re-commissioning of new or repaired machinery.
Read and interpret technical drawings, work orders, and production schedules to determine job requirements.
Ensure maintenance activities are completed as per schedule and in accordance with job cards.
Utilize materials economically and responsibly.
Perform all tasks safely, using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Follow all yard safety rules and report unsafe conditions or practices.
Maintain the quality and quantity of assigned work.
Properly maintain tools, equipment, and work areas.
Ensure good housekeeping practices are maintained in all work areas.
Follow instructions from supervisors and carry out tasks safely and efficiently.
Report any lapses in safety or procedures promptly.
Perform any other duties as assigned.
Prioritize personal and team wellbeing by adhering to all health & safety protocols, participating in wellness programs, and reporting wellbeing concerns to support a safe and healthy workplace.
Qualifications
Technical Certificate in Machine Maintenance, Mechanical Maintenance, or Electrical Maintenance; or completion of a recognized Machine Repair Apprenticeship.
Experience
Minimum 4 years of relevant experience (for diploma holders).
Strong knowledge of fault-finding techniques.
Familiarity with mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
Experience with mechanical repair and maintenance procedures.
Understanding of Permit to Work (PTW) systems.
Basic computer literacy (for daily reporting and maintenance records).
Skills hydraulic, mechanical repair, mechanical, PTW, fault-finding techniques, electrical systems.
