DESCRIPTION According to the design phase plans, the candidate guarantees the correctness of erection execution according to the schedule. They should identify critical issues that could affect the work pace, proactively addressing potential problems during equipment commissioning. This involves reviewing electrical schematics and documentation, collaborating with the NITCO technical office, and producing 'as built' documentation for engineering updates if modifications occur. Typical equipment to be installed and commissioned includes : Jib Cranes, EOT, Scrapyard, Gantry Cranes, Automatic Cranes for scrap, liquid steel, finished and semi-finished products for steel factories – Cranes capacity 5 – 450 tons Manual and electric hoists Harbor Special Cranes Components :
Siemens PLC, drives (ABB; SIEMENS Siemens Step 7 series, TIA Portal; Schneider, Allen-Bradley, etc), Ethernet / Profinet and Profibus interfaces, HVAC on cranes, HPD gearboxes, control cabins, brakes (shoe, disk, emergency), motors and gearboxes, drive tuning and commissioning (ABB, Schneider, Siemens), etc. For turnkey projects or those where NITCO supplies erection via a third-party contractor, the mechanical supervisor coordinates directly with the work crews and their supervisors for proper erection and technical support. In advisory-only contractual arrangements, the Advisor verifies the correctness of activities and reports any critical issues to the NITCO site manager to ensure schedule adherence. RESPONSIBILITIES Single responsibility for open package inspection, multidisciplinary installation & commissioning, certification, troubleshooting of cranes during installation, commissioning, operation, start-up, shutdown, and emergencies, including team coordination. Supervise open package activities, identify missing items, and report missing materials or documentation. Coordinate all field activities across disciplines (mechanical, electrical, automation, hydraulic). Recommend optimal procedures to ensure safe and correct machine assembly. Supervise final customer technicians during commissioning, including internal and external tests; may perform complete commissioning independently if required. Load testing coordination Execute performance tests per contract in coordination with the customer. Prepare and sign off on formal documentation for crane hand-over (PAC, FAC, Hand-over, Punch List). Manage documentation in both hard and soft copies, act as the liaison between site and HQ, and provide weekly progress reports. Prepare as-built documentation for modifications performed on-site. Additional tasks include testing, equipment tuning, supervision of erection teams, troubleshooting, and ensuring safety and quality standards. The candidate should be capable of fulfilling all responsibilities independently, especially in smaller sites. In larger projects, reporting lines are to the Site Manager or HQ as appropriate. QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION Bachelor of Engineering or technical diploma. 3-10 years of on-site experience in heavy industries, particularly with overhead cranes (EOT). 1-5 years of experience in instrumentation design within a technical office setting (essential). SKILLS Technical knowledge of the specified equipment, overhead cranes, and lifting standards. Mechanical alignment, basic electrical skills (drive commissioning), and heavy lifting planning. Maintenance skills (bearings, gearboxes, etc.), basic Siemens PLC control system experience. Proficiency in English (spoken and written), good communication, troubleshooting skills, and computer skills including basic AutoCAD. Work conditions involve industrial environments, working at heights, and potential exposure to noise, heat, and cold.
