Instrumentation & Controls Engineer

Overview

Wood are actively seeking Expressions of Interest for Instrument & Control Engineer role to support future growth in our expanding business. The projects team focuses on delivering across FEED, Pre-FEED, Brownfield, and Greenfield scopes of work. In this role, you will be responsible for the execution of project work in accordance with the project execution plan, including Wood and / or Project Procedures on Safety and Quality Control within the man-hour, cost and project schedule targets. This is a long-term assignment based in Qatar. Responsibilities

Designing the future. Transforming the world. Reflecting the market focus for the office in both brownfield and green field opportunities. Work with multi-skilled personnel with experience in Onshore Oil and Gas and Offshore Oil and Gas. Ensure Wood and Client Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality procedures are followed and maintain a high standard of safety in all associated work. Produce and review C&I deliverables with guidance from the Lead Engineer, ensuring accuracy and alignment with the scope of work prior to issue. Deliverables include, but are not limited to : design basis, instrument schedules / indices, sizing calculations and instrument datasheets (control valve, relief valves, flow / pressure / level instruments, cable, etc.), and Control & Shutdown System Philosophies. Prepare and develop enquiry packages including Specifications, Datasheets, Request for Quotation and Technical Bid Evaluation. Develop specifications and prepare material requisitions for control systems, instruments, control valves and other instruments. Support development and provide instrumentation and control input for P&IDs and Cause & Effects. Review Vendors' quotations, prepare technical quotation evaluation, and recommend the final technically acceptable Vendor, in conjunction with Materials Management Department. Technically approve Order Variation Summaries. Participate in coordination meetings and engineering review meetings with Vendors of major equipment as required. Prepare and develop material take-off for the I&C discipline. Takes responsibility for challenging I&C engineering tasks and delivery of scope for large and / or complex projects. Participate in project reviews, design reviews, audits and other workshops as required. Complete site surveys and data gathering for brownfield scope of work and develop the site survey report. Assess progress and procedure-related reports and contribute to the progress measurement system. Propose plans to recover slippage and improve efficiency. Experience : Engineering Degree in Instrumentation & Control, Electrical & Electronics Engineering or similar with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience Enrolled on the Register of Engineers in the State of Qatar, Grade A or B Category as a mandatory requirement If not enrolled on the Register of Engineers in the State of Qatar, candidates must be a Chartered Engineer TÜV Function Safety Certification is desirable Further education and experience with Cyber Security Systems is desirable Proven core Instrument & Control Engineering skills, including design experience in the Oil & Gas sector Experience of working in a variety of projects and phases, including greenfield and brownfield, on and offshore, Pre-FEED through to EPC, with a focus on offshore upstream Familiar with third party control system architecture and design including Honeywell, Yokogawa, Emerson, Invensys, Siemens and ABB Familiar with and competent with PAS, DCS, SCADA and PLC control system design including fieldbus technologies and communication protocols Experience with ESD, F&G and Condition Monitoring Systems design Experienced with completing SIL assessments, SIL verification, and SIS architecture design Experience and knowledge of Telecoms engineering and design is desirable, including IA / TIA and ETSI standards Experience with Telecoms systems such as LAN, CCTV, PA / GA, UHF / VHF Radio, Microwave and Access Control is desirable Strong understanding of plant design and field instrumentation / control room layout Understanding and use of SPI (INTOOLS) Experience with HAZOP / SIL / LOPA and ability to act as technical authority in studies Familiar with international design codes and standards such as ISA, NFPA, BS, API, IEC, NACE, NEMA, ANSI Ideally has experience with Qatar O&G customer design standards including Shell DEPs Experience with management of vendors, including Technical Bid Evaluations and overseeing vendor scope development Experience performing factory acceptance tests for instrumentation and control systems is desirable Construction and site experience is desirable, with exposure to loop checking, installation and problem solving of transmitters, pressure / level switches, control valves, F&G detectors, flow meters and MOVs A self-motivated, proactive individual with strong communication and organizational skills Ability to influence colleagues and demonstrate analytical and innovative thinking with new technology About Us
