Overview University of Doha for Science and Technology UDST is the first national applied University in the State of Qatar offering applied Bachelors and Masters degrees in addition to certificates and diplomas in various fields UDST has over 50 programs in the fields of Engineering Technology and Industrial Trades Business Management Computing and Information Technology Health Sciences Continuing and Professional Education and more With more than 600 staff and over 7 000 students UDST is the destination for topnotch applied and experiential learning The University is recognized for its studentcentered learning and stateoftheart facilities Our faculty are committed to delivering pedagogicallysound learning experiences with incorporation of innovative technological interventions to further enhance students skills and help develop talented graduates that can effectively contribute to a knowledgebased economy and make Qatars National Vision 2030 a reality The Student Central Services Department invites applications for the position of Academic Learning Support Specialist Responsibilities Reporting to the Head Academic Learning Services the successful candidate will develop tutoring and learning support programs to meet the learning and academic success needs in alignment with UDSTs overall objectives The incumbent will be responsible for planning developing monitoring and evaluating the overall operations and staff of the programs The successful candidate will Manage the operations of the Writing Center to ensure all students receive qualitydriven writing support services Liaise with subject matter experts to align writing services to the needs of the institutions programs Offer oneonone dedicated writing services to students with complex and or advanced writing needs Facilitate workshops related to writing concepts study skills and learning techniques Develop and monitor tutoring programs to support the students in improving their grades and academic projects Develop innovative approaches for tutoring and learning support programs to enhance the students knowledge skills and learning methods Develop success metrics to forecast tutoring and mentorship needs and analyze data on tutoring effectiveness and utilization Monitor student data for the programs including not limited to student attendance tutor attendance test scores etc Manage UDST activities and academic support initiatives such as the peer tutoring program help centers and student success workshops to contribute towards student academic achievement In collaboration with the relevant instructors identify student academic skills development through interviews assessments of academic strengths and deficits testtaking skills to ensure enhance academic skills development Participate in coordinating with qualified students instructors deans and external postsecondary institutions higher education institutions to recruit potential tutors and mentors Support in evaluating tutoring and mentorship programs and utilize the findings in ensuring positive outcomes for the services Develop marketing strategies to promote student success programs to UDST students Develop marketing strategies to attract recruit and retain suitable qualified tutors and mentors Liaise with tutors mentors and instructors in conducting periodic reviews of the student success programs and maintain outcome assessment records and reports Develop and maintain tutoring and mentorship schedule of activities instruction sessions and academic workshops Ability to work with a student success management system to facilitate daily operations and accurate data tracking Maintain outcome assessment records and reports Qualifications Education and Certifications Bachelors degree in Communications English English Literature Rhetoric Composition or associated fields is required Experience Minimum 5 Years Of Relevant Experience In Related Field Language Fluency in written and spoken English and Arabic language is required Other Required Skills Highly detailoriented individual with a proactive cando attitude to work is essential A commitment to positive relationship building and effective working relationships across all levels of the organizations is required Candidates should demonstrate explanatory communication and interpersonal skills Applicants must meet all essential qualifications in order to be shortlisted for the position other qualifications may be a deciding factor in selection Qualifications and experience will be assessed through your application which may include but not be limited to curricula vitae cover letters references teaching dossiers and sample publications It is the applicants responsibility to provide appropriate examples that illustrate how s he meets each requirement Failing to do so could result in the application being rejected We thank all applicants for applying for the role only those selected for further consideration will be contacted
